Wanted

What does one do when life's monotony leads to a lack of desire? The answer is obvious: you gotta find out that you have a superpower and go on a killing spree.

That's the life lesson that Hollywood is trying to sell us. Yes, and we all seem to buy it. Why do so many movies emphasize sitting around until the universe gives you your secret hidden ability that will make you happy instead of actively seeking it yourself?

Well, if you haven't figured it out yet, I'm talking about the movie Wanted. For a summer action flick, it's very entertaining. I actually quite enjoyed the main character and the action.

What bothers me, though, is that there are not enough movies where something other than a quick fix solves all of our problems or replaces them with super-hero problems (waaaa I'm not the BEST assassin, just AMONG the best). Spiderman and the Matrix did this too. Maybe American's like seeing stories about people who's lives were instantly transformed. Who knows.
