Resolutions

It's a week after New Year's now...and I've actually wanted to make this entry for a while but never got around to it. For the first time in...well, a long time, I've decided to make some resolutions. Bottom line, there's stuff I want changed...so here are my resolutions for 2004 and explanations of each:

Do better in school.
I have potential. I'm a slacker, bottom line. My study habits suck. I could be a Dean's List student if I studied harder...so that's my goal for this semester and into next school year. I don't even party, there's no reason I shouldn't be studying at night. My courses are better this semester, so here's to hoping.

Spend more time with my family.
Over break so far I've been forced to hang out with my family, particularly my mom and my sister, and I've realized they aren't that bad. I'm not going to become best friends with them, but I need to stop shutting them out. My mom is an amazing woman and Katie Wags is growing up fast, and she's much cooler than I ever could have thought she'd be.

Practice bass and guitar.
This is somewhat similar to the study habits one. I'm a decent bassist and guitarist, but I've been playing for almost 3 years now. I have never really practiced much, but I attribute that to being incredibly busy. I've decided to really take a gamble on music as a career, so I need to practice.

End my writer's block.
Old school Out of Luck/Better Off people know that I used to write the lyrics for every single one of our songs. Then, magically, I hit the most horrible writer's block ever. I get small ideas every now and then but I have a hard time putting full songs together. This isn't a resolution I can control, but one I really hope comes true.

So those are my basic resolutions for this year. I want to make it as wonderful as possible. Each new year is the closest thing we get to a chance at starting over. Never pass up that chance. You may surprise yourself.
