loosing the battle

I talked about this back in September, but I'll briefly refill you in, for those new friends I have since then. Last August I applied for a teaching position at the Austin School of Massage, which was offered to me during my primary enterview. Then a month later before the classes began for training I recieved this email that said after speaking ( Read more... )

I think people are afraid of the unknown and the Austin School of Massage probably didn't know what to expect with a blind teacher. Nonetheless, you are obviously more than qualified to teach, considering that you run your own business and have been giving massages for five years. Didn't some lady recently say you gave her the best massage she'd ever had? That school would be lucky to have you...their loss! I think it's good that you're fighting them, because they shouldn't get away with what is so obviously a wrongdoing.

Ya, they suck, but it'll all work out I'm sure. I'm just tired and stressed out with all this renovating and all this other shit, and sometimes I feel like I have to prove myself more than other people, because I can't see. I don't know if I'm making since I'm hungry and I need to go clean beds, but thanks for your support.

I don't really want to work there anymore, but I just don't want them to be able to do this to anyone else, and even though I don't want to work there anymore I ca't just sit by and let them think this shit is all right. It'll all be over soon, one way or the other it'll work itself out, and at least I don't have to regret just standing by and keeping my mouth shut, and just letting it happen. Even if nothing happens, maybe I'll stir up just enough trouble that they won't want to handle another situation like this quite the same way.

I don't want to work there anymore, but maybe I'll make them think twice before handling a situation like this in the future the way they did with me.

I'm sorry to hear about what happened, but I am very glad to see that, even if you don't want to go to school there anymore that you are making them accountable for their discriminatory actions. Good for you...and despite the commute, at least you don't have to worry about people being on you (even if you did get hired, you know they'd have more scrutiny for you than with any other instructor). I think you'll be happier where you are. Good luck with that. :)

Stand up for your rights sista!
I'm not for exploiting companies and suing at every chance, but this is a very very valid reason.
I hope you keep updates on the situation.
bring the suckas down.
That's completely absurd.
