American Cancer Society Relay for Life
As you may remember from last year, every July my family has a team in the local Relay For Life. This is a fund raiser for the American Cancer Society, and we started our team in memory of my mother and brother. This year the event will be held July 9-10th.
A member of our team began working for British Petroleum earlier this year, and they will match every dollar our team members raise. SO.....if you would be so kind as to donate to our team, each dollar you contribute will actually be doubled by BP....YAY!!!!!!....as well as being tax deductible.
I was going to knit some scarves to sell at the Relay, but then I got to thinking....it takes me a lot of hours to make one of these, (about 20) and I would MUCH rather make them for friends. SO.....for everyone who donates $50.00 or more to the ACS via our team, I will make a scarf for you or your honey. I have some (not all that good) pictures of the four I currently have ready, which I was going to put in here, but I can't figure out how to do it...so if you are interested, I can email them to you. I promise they are really soft and pretty. I can either make one for YOU in one of these colors OR you can tell me what color you want and I will see what I can find in the way of that color of yarn. So far the ones I have are a soft celery green (much prettier than it sounds), a pale grey/darker gray/black, plum/purple/dark purple and dark red/darker red/black.
For those of you not interested in a scarf, I also make handmade cards and could make an assortment for you instead...either a random assortment, or with a "theme" of your choice. (For example, I made a "Dragon" assortment for someone recently.)
And of course, any and all donations gratefully accepted, small or large, whether you want a handmade "ScottiThangTM" or not. Every little bit helps.
I should also, in the interest of full disclosure, say that if you are reading this (behind my cut tag) you are almost certainly someone I had planned to do something of this sort for ANYWAY.....at some point in time. If not a scarf or cards, then whatever I happen to be into at that point in the future. So you don't HAVE to donate anything in order to get "ScottiThangTM"s. :D
So I'll shut up now, but first let me remind you that Christmas is just around the corner....REALLY it is! And wouldn't your honey rather have a nice handmade scarf for her birthday than a big box of chocolates that would go straight to the hips she would feel compelled to SHARE? :) And don't you want one YOURSELF??? And it's TAX DEDUCTIBLE!!!! And your donation will be doubled!!!!!! What's not to like????? And why can't I stop talking like this????!!!!! YIKES! I think I'm infected by the "Infomercial Virus!"

This is an effort close to my heart. I lost my mom and my brother to pancreatic cancer almost exactly a year apart. We, as a family, believe very strongly that this horrible disease CAN be beaten....and I would like to see it happen in my lifetime. If you would like to help, it would be greatly appreciated.
