Whew! What a day we had yesterday. As you know, our Palace friends had a big Memorial Day Blowout yesterday. PYLP Studios made its grand opening, and here's what we did:
We started earlier than we were scheduled to, as we debuted Super Jackpot: The Machine to begin the festivities.
The official ceremony began with Grey and Wheel of Fortune. Jason's big win and a rare appearance by former operator Rob Rosko highlighted this event.
Next was the premiere of Dirty Rotten Cheater, hosted by Jason and won by Diamond. Cory popped up in the middle of the game, so after DRC, it was off to...
Our semi-main event, PYL Mayhem: The 2nd Anniversery edition. And Red cleaned up here, thanks to the debut of the Mystery Prize. He earned a double play, and boosted his score up to $40,000+ (including bonus round winnings.)... a new Mayhem record.
Next was Match Game. I didn't really follow that too much.
FINALLY... it was time for our main event. PYLX! Press Your Luck... to the XTREME!!!
The game (created by Hollywood) follows pretty much the same structure as regular PYL, but with some subtle differences. First off, the money values are boosted. One spin in Spin Round 2 can earn you $15,000! There's also a Whammy Stash (similar to the Big Bank that you used to see on "Whammy!") and a Steal Square that allows a player to take his opponent's stash away from him.
There's also an all-or-$1000 bonus round. Our winner decided not to take the risk (he had $50,000 anyway) so he'll come back on Sunday, with a whole lot of cash.
(We wrapped up with a $1,000,000 Primetime Edition of Whammy, but I ended my computer time at that point.)
More premieres this week: MEGA WoF on Wednesday, Russian Roulette is coming, and 2 more Match Games during the week. The Palace version of the popular PC game and short lived TV game show "You Don't Know Jack" debuts on Friday. Bottom Line: Monday was just the start of a big summer at the new PYLP Studios.
