Those are some incredible kids. You should have the principal come up and commend them, might make them feel important =) Mine have finally learned the schedule, which is the same every day, and now when a child tries to tell a new adult (sub, intern, whatever) that they want to use the computer, the others chime in with "center time, end of the day, not time yet". Sounds like you're doing an awesome job with those guys -L
Short answer: because the assistant principal in charge of scheduling for this hectic week was absolutely certain that either Ms.M or I would be done with our proctoring duties before the official end time and be able to return to the classroom before the period began.
Which is why I probably won't be asking a principal/administrator to directly commend these students - don't want to remind them that they make mistakes. Not until I'm tenured, anyway!
