Introduction
She steps out onto the street and the memories come flooding back. The tears start to wash down her face. She thinks to herself, “I’m going to tell our story one last time.” She goes back inside, and starts to type the words exactly as she remembers them.
It was a cold, windy, rainy day when he showed up. He seemed like any ordinary guy, but he would turn out to be much, much more.
He continues to hit her and she continues to scream for help, even though she knows that everything is soundproof. It is soundproof for one reason, so he can beat her without interference of family, friends, or outsiders.
He has beaten her since there one month anniversary. He had said that she brought it on herself because she hadn’t been home on time. She knew better than anyone the temper that her husband, Stephen Hinkley, had.
The beatings finally stopped when she was unable to move. He stood over her for a minute or two. Then stooped down and said, “Do you understand what I’m asking you, Areyah?” She continued to lay motionless, finally she awoke and he asked her again. She nodded her head and told him that she would never do it again. He stood up and went into their room. After what seemed like hours, she decided it was safe to move around, and stumbled to stand up. She finally got to her feet and decided it was time to leave.
She went to her room and found him sleeping. She grabbed her suitcase and packed. When she was finished, she looked at Stephen one last time, and ran out of the house forever, or so she thought.

Chapter 1
Lover’s Death

The wind whipped against Areyah’s face as she looked back on the last time she saw her husband. After four years, she still has nightmares from her husband’s beatings. Scott McCartney, her lover, from her old days with her husband, woke up every time she did from hearing her screaming voice.
The memories of what her husband did to her still haunted her life. She was still sure that he knew where she had moved to, far away from anyone she knew.

The detective that Stephen had hired was the best in the business. Every time Areyah moved, he could find her. She now lived in California with her lover, Scott Peterson. He had been in jail for many convictions. First, he had made love to an older woman and stole all her money and assets. His Second conviction was because he was accused of murdering a 3 month old baby boy of an old girlfriend. Areyah believed that Scott’s last name was McCartney, which was what he had told her. The detective told Stephen that he could go with him to show where she lived, but he objected to the thought of having to explain his past to the detective before they left to find Areyah. The detective just thought that he wanted to get his wife back; however, he didn’t realize that he was going to kill Scott out of revenge.

Areyah told Scott that she was going to work and that she would be back at 4 p.m. Scott went back into their bedroom and got ready to give her the anniversary present that he had set up. It had been 5 years since they first got together.
He got the table together and he realized that he had forgotten to buy candles. When he got back from buying the candles, he realized that he wasn’t alone. Someone else was sitting at the table where he had set up the dinner. It was someone he had known for almost ten years. The person sitting in the chair stood up and shot Scott in the head right in the middle of the forehead.

The wind whips against Areyah’s face as she walks down the street to go home. When she gets to the door, she finds it wide open. She steps in cautiously and wonders why it was opened. She finds Scott lying on the floor and immediately calls the police because she has watched the police shows about crime scene contamination.
When the police arrive at the apartment, she tells them what she knows and they wonder how someone got into the house without a key. Areyah knew that Scott had gone out because he had his coat on and he had forgotten to buy candles. She knew this because she snooped to find out if he remembered their five year anniversary.
Areyah was going to live with her parents in New York until the police found the culprit of the murder.

Areyah’s parents bought her a plane ticket to come home. They knew that she had left her husband. They knew very well, the temper of her husband. They had witnessed his temper at Stephen’s own home once.
When Areyah got home, her parents immediately sent her to the guest bedroom. They talked about what had happened with their lawyers and wondered who could have done it, but Areyah knew full well who has wanted to kill Scott. Her husband, Stephen Hinkley, has wanted to kill Scott since he had found out about the affair. Therefore, she decided that she would plan out when and where she would get her revenge.

Stephen wondered why Areyah had come back to him so quickly of her own free will. Areyah had returned to him a month after the murder of Scott. Stephen had an idea of who had killed him but he wasn’t completely sure. He wanted to thank the person who did it because he was about to do it himself. Stephen had wanted to kill Scott since the affair had started. Areyah had no idea that he had known about the affair the entire time. She believed that he had found out when he caught them at their house in their bedroom. She never even really wanted to know what he was doing home early.
Areyah woke in the early morning, much earlier then usual and found Stephen in the kitchen. She had already planned out her murder. They were going out to dinner that night and that was when she was going to do it. She knew the exact place that she would bury him, in the ground right next to his victim, Scott. She wanted him to see him even after death. She wanted him to see the damage that he had done to her lover and to here life.
The dinner was to celebrate Areyah’s return. Stephen was sure that Areyah was going to wear the red dress. But she came out with the black. He told her to go change into what he wanted her to wear, yet she had no idea what that was. She came out with the red dress on and he smiled. “You look beautiful”, he told her. She smiled shyly. She was only pretending of course. He however, had no idea why she was like this. He believed that she really was going to stay with him forever.
The restaurant that they were going to was the best in town and the most expensive. Areyah had no idea that Stephen had many plans for that night.

Chapter 2
Death

The restaurant was very fancy. The lights were strung all over the walls. The chandeliers were flowered and strung over every table. When Areyah saw the lights, she was amazed that Stephen could even afford anything like this.
Stephen led Areyah to the table and told her that he was going to get the best attendant on the town. When he got back, he came with someone she knew that Scott had known. She pretended not to know him and he did the same. He had been told the story of Stephen’s abuse for years. When he was done taking their order, he went back to see the chef. Areyah recognized the man he was talking to; his name was Thomas. He had been Scott’s lawyer; he was a chef on the side. Thomas hadn’t spoken to Areyah since she had made her statement in the police department.
Areyah wondered what they were talking about. She had always found Thomas bloodcurdling, but Scott had convinced her to trust him. The waiter came back over and asked to talk to Areyah. Stephen didn’t object; so she went. The attendant took her into the back where Thomas told her the police had found new evidence that pointed toward Stephen.
Areyah decided that it was time to kill Stephen. On their way to the hotel, The Biltmore, Areyah was going over her plan from a month ago. She thought to herself, “I have to do it tonight. This is the only way he can get what he deserves.”
When they got to The Biltmore, Stephen rented the room for the night, and they went up to the best suite in the entire hotel. Stephen got in the shower and Areyah prepared herself. She went into the bathroom and took out the gun that she had been holding onto since she left Stephen the first time. Stephen got out of the shower and gasped. He had no idea that she had planned to do this. She said, “This is for everything you’ve ever done to me and for killing Scott. Stephen tried to speak, but she pulled the trigger before he had the chance.

Chapter 3
New Detective

The bullet went whizzing through the air and hit Stephen in the chest just above his left breast. He started to gasp for air. Areyah started to pull the trigger again when Stephen came after her. Areyah had promised herself that this night would be the end. She intended to keep that promise.
Stephen started choking her when she fought back. She started taking self-defense classes after she left Stephen. At first, Areyah tried to hurl him off, but that was no use; he was too strong. When she finally started choking him, he decided to let go. She grabbed the gun and shot him in the forehead. Then she went over to him and shot him twice in the heart even though she knew that he was already dead; she wanted to make sure that he would never hurt her again.
There was a knock on the door and Thomas came in. He saw Stephens body and told Areyah that the evidence that pointed to Stephen was planted at the crime scene.

Areyah sat in her room at her parent’s house and suddenly felt guilty that Thomas had helped her hide the body and gun.
She wondered why he did it when there suddenly was a knock at the door. Her mother came in with Thomas, the attendant, and a man that Areyah had never seen before.
Thomas introduced the man as his consultant. The man nodded and Areyah got a sudden spine tingling feeling around him. She just knew that there was something wrong with him.
They had a long conversation about the death of Scott. Josh informed her that the person who killed him was someone close to him, that knew the house and someone who knew the vicinity of the area. Areyah kept going through her mind the people that knew the house. There was only one person that she couldn’t find.
She could see them in her mind but she could not remember his name. Then it hit her. She recognized his name. She saw that the only thing that was different about him was that he had dyed his hair. The man’s name was Josh McArthur.
Areyah sat there watching Josh and he saw in her eyes that she had placed him. He thought that he had hidden his appearance enough; but obviously he hadn’t. He started to panic and then decided that she was just looking at him.
Areyah tried to calm herself down when she saw Thomas talking to Josh. They seemed to be discussing her appearance. The main thing that they seemed to be inspecting was her eyes. They seemed to realize that she had figured out their secret. Josh tried to explain why he had done it when Areyah’s mother came in and said that it was not Josh. She said that he could not have done it because Josh was at a party with her. Areyah tried to think of a reason why Josh would lie when she just decided that he was just being paranoid. They decided to hire Josh for finding the real killer.

Josh spent weeks trying to find out all the information that he could find on the crime scene. The police were reluctant to hand out information, but they gave him all that they needed.
Areyah waited patiently to find out who the killer was, but they had no luck. Deep in her mind, Areyah knew who the killer was; she just didn’t want to believe it.

Chapter 4
Mistakes of the Past

The stars were shining and the moon was bright. Areyah sat in the back seat of Stephen’s pick-up truck and thought of what she was going to say to her mother when she got home. Stephen was now dressed and tried to think of a plan. Areyah turned her watch back and decided that she would tell her mother that her watch broke.
When the truck pulled up to the door, Areyah’s mother came running out of the house crying hysterically. When they got in the house, Stephen sat down and apologized. They claimed that they had lost track of time because both of their watches had broken.
“My mother and father believed us.” Areyah was telling Thomas the story of loosing her virginity with Stephen. Stephen was 20 years old; Areyah was 15 years old. Areyah had believed that she loved him.

When he first hit her, she wasn’t expecting it. Areyah always believed that Stephen thought of her as the “love of my life.” That was what he told her on their wedding day.
It was the “best day of her life.” That was what she thought anyway. That night, after their plane, Areyah told Stephen that she didn’t want to have sex tonight because that meant that her parents would know that she wasn’t a virgin. Stephen said that she was going to have sex with him or he would kill her. So Areyah did. That was Stephen’s first outburst of his temper. From then on, Areyah knew not to upset him. Stephen changed after their wedding. He became a totally different person, as if someone was controlling him.

The enraged outbursts happened over and over again with each day. Eventually Areyah’s parents found the temper of Stephen was going to get Areyah killed. Areyah’s mother first learned of Stephen’s temper when she walked in on an episode from Areyah packing to go on her yearly “business trip.” Areyah was on the floor of the kitchen when her mother walked in on the outburst. Stephen was screaming about another man and Areyah was lying on the tile floor crying. When Mrs. Crane came into the kitchen, Stephen told her that they were just discussing their wills and assets. Mrs. Crane decided to tell Mr. Crane what he saw. Mr. Crane told Stephen that he would rip off something very important to him and then he would stomp on them if he ever touched his daughter again. Stephen hit him so hard, that Mr. Crane ended up in the hospital for over a year. Mr. Crane never said anything about touching Areyah to Stephen again; neither did Mrs. Crane.
