Okay, so I had a blast yesterday. I was very excited when I walked to Wygal hall that morning and saw a charter bus... So naturally, the bus ride was the best part of the trip, we watched Batman Begins, but could not hear it, so that was entertaining, college kids are pushy.
CICIS TRIP!!!!!! GOOOODDDDD PIZZA...good times..we discussed the ghosties of LU...yaya
Concert one: eww, their equipment was a little more run down than ours, and that is sad. The people there were very sweet though, and they all wanted to talk to us about the music program at longwood. I also came to the realization that there are only 7 or 8 non-music majors in the whole wind ensemble...scarrryyyy. I am one of them.
Bus ride to second concert: finished watching Batman, actaully had sound this time...I dont care, I wrote and sang along with Kate and *Nsync, BSB, and the black eyed peas...yayyyyyyyy for random music!
Concert 2: We performed with them, so we had to practice with them first. Thier equipment was much nicer than ours, except our Grande marimba is a lot prettier sounding. They definetely tried to show off to us, tried to show us up, we ignored it, we are better than to accept challenges,,,right...food was more important than showing up a bunce of little high schoolers playin sing sing sing...
The foood rocked my socks...yes, that is an official band term methinks...homecooked band mom food...yay for band mom food...that wasnt freakin pizza....thank the gods...
Thier concert was cool...very high schoolerish...they played Bayou Breakdown OL peeps...we all lloooovvveee that song *i had just gotten the dang song out of my head,,,and now it is back...haunting me*
Our concert went realll well, i mean, of course, we are the LU wind ensemble, bow down before us...I will tell you, right when that last song with both bands done, Dr Ring came over to us percussionist and said in a very enthusiastic manner "Let's go home guys!" I'm thinkin he was as ready to get our as we were.
Bus Ride home: we watched Wizard of Oz with a Pink Floyd cd being played over it "The dark side of oz" supposedly the music was supposed to match up...it was cool..I definetely talked to the sax section about band geek stuff, like Star Trek, star Wars, and Power Rangers...yayyyyyy. I was ready to be back home tho, bus rides have never done me well, even tho I had an awesome riding buddy, yay for kate and our singing of boybands, i still felt sick from all the bumping, and i couldnt sleep bc it was too short a ride.
Other than the idea that there was silent competition between the second band and ours, the day was pretty cool, but I was happy to go to sleep. anywho, now i need to find any make up work!
