Synopsis
When it isn't prison, it's hell - or at least that's the belief of conscripts Jonathan Browne and Mike "Ginger" Brady. For this is the British Army in the days of National Service.
A great read & a bit of a nostalgia trip for me, not that I did National Service!!! I did, however, do my nurse training in the Army, & spent 4 weeks in Catterick at the hospital there. I identified with some of the feelings both Jonathan & Mike had about the Army & had a few laughs along the way. My experiences were over 25 years after theirs but so many things hadn't changed. Also there was a character with whom I share a surname :)
