22.

Locking the door they undressed themselves carefully and very slowly. Recalling their hasty session earlier in the day they went slow this time.
Luke unbuttoned Reid’s shirt and every time the tip of his fingers touched just a patch of Reid’s soft skin both shivered, Reid from pure and untamable desire and Luke because he felt as if he was doing this for the first time. Since his fingers trembled it took him quite some time to undo the shirt.
“It’s a delicate color!”
“Well, it was Katie’s choice and she made me wear it tonight.”
“Did she put that hint of gel into your curls, too?” Luke chuckled twirling a strand of red hair between his fingers.
“Yeah - I mean I had to bend down since she isn’t much taller than Ruby, but…”
“Oh my God, what have I gotten myself into? A universe of midgets with crazy amounts of hair.”
“Please, the Oliver down there doesn’t feel ‘midgety’ at all.”
“I’ll take care of him.”
Reid puffed out small pants trying to hold back.
“Let go, Reid! I am here.”
“It’s embarrassing…”
“Hey?”
Luke clasped Reid’s chin and made him look straight in the eye.
“You told me that you weren’t with a man for a very long time - so this is totally normal, right? And in my view it’s kind of cute. I am honored to make you come quickly! Look, somehow all this isn’t very familiar for me either - since I don’t intend on running away this time. And now let me please have a private talk with greedy Oliver.”
“No, not like this, Luke. Let’s move to the bed. I need you all over me not only at my cock.”

Luke instantly let up on fiddling with Reid’s crotch and looked up at him and there was such a pleading expression in those beautiful eyes that he knew this wasn’t about sex. Reid asked him for something and he had to find out what it was. So he stood up, took Reid’s hand and led him to the bed.
When they got there Luke lay down and pulled Reid with him.
He intently studied the blue eyes looking back at him and stated:
“I love your kisses.”
With that he flipped Reid around and changed their position.
“You are so lightweight. It’s a miracle given your fondness for olive oil.”
“Olive oil is the healthiest oil of all - you of all men should know that - since …”
“Don’t even think of finishing that sentence… but move up to the head and sit up. And please, don’t do anything, especially don’t think anything just enjoy, okay?”
“’kay.”
“Don’t look so scared -trust me!”
Straddling the somewhat confused man Luke tried to reassure him, he felt lightheaded, crazy in love and secure. They were both clean, so they could enjoy each other in the most sensual way.
“I am not scared … it’s just…”
“I know you feel at a disadvantage because of your fantasies about me having so much more experience in the sex-department than you…please forget about it. When it comes to relating you are so much more experienced.”
“Luke, I have only been with Gavin and a coach in rehab…when we’re together all I can think about is not to screw it up, or what you like, and whether you want me as much as I want you.”
“I do, Reid. Don’t you feel how much? Since I entered Ravi’s room for the first time watching you with him and looking into your eyes I knew I was a goner. I am so into you - and all I can think about is whether you like me as much as I like you.”
“I…” Reid couldn’t finish because with an unexpected move Luke impaled himself on his penis and slowly slid down then ignoring the burn only concentrating on kissing Reid.
“Let’s leave our past behind and start over, Reid.” He groaned into Reid’s mouth and took the long-drawn-out moan for consent.

Later they cleaned themselves and Reid threw one of his pajamas to Luke before he unlocked the door. Slipping under the cover Reid lifted his arm to make room for Luke.
“Luke, this feels just so good.”
“Same here.”
Luke nested his head on Reid’s chest and inhaled his now familiar scent hoping that calling Damian hadn’t been a mistake. What if his father threatened the dancer or meeting with his past Gavin might realize that he still loved Reid or…Suddenly remembering that it was his constant worry that the man he was in love with was slipping away that had driven him crazy back then he decided to enjoy the moment and especially Reid being so close to him.
“Good night, Luke” Reid murmured sleepily.
“Night.”
After that it took them only a few minutes to fall asleep and only their steady breathing was heard.  It had been with unspoken agreement that they acted like parents who never knew if their children were going to sneak into their room at night.

And there they were. Luke felt them before they uttered a sound and considered pretending to be still asleep but Reid shifted and was instantly waking up. While Luke always needed some time to be fully awake Reid opened his eyes and was alert.
“Guys what are you doing?”
This time Ravi was balancing a tray with coffee mugs, scones, jam and clotted cream.
“Did you watch this on TV, too?” Reid scratched the back of his head and looked expectantly at his daughter.
“No, DD thought it was a good idea to bring you breakfast so that you finally wake up - he wants to discuss something with you when we’ve finished breakfast!” Ruby put it right. “Can I get in?”
“Yeah, sure!”

So Luke got the full dose of feeling like a parent, Ruby sitting enthroned in the middle of them and Ravi at the end of the bed a bit hesitantly.
“Would you mind if I sit at your right side, Luke?”
“Not at all, Ravi!”
The Oliver’s were a physical family - especially with the kids. Ruby probably considered the whole bunch of adults to be hers, and she rarely crossed her mum’s or dad’s path without catching a hug or a kiss, Henry carried her on his shoulders constantly and so did DD.

Ravi was more reluctant, he seemed to need some space but even he sat close to his mother or dad leaning his head against their shoulders many times and Katie often held his hand, gently caressing it. Maybe she still envisioned those needles sticking in her boy’s bruised skin.
Well Luke was a cuddler and he wished for Ravi to lose his distance towards him. But those things needed time and he knew the boy had to make the first step and the second and then one day Luke would also be allowed to tousle that crazy auburn mane.
“Where is your Mummy?” Reid asked while Ravi made himself comfortable next to Luke who had a hard time not hugging the boy out of sheer joy. He and his son were in a good place but he was still afraid to overwhelm him or overstep a line.
“Mum had to go to work today, her editor called.” Ravi explained and Luke realized that he hadn’t been aware that Katie had an actual job in the real world.
“Mummy writes books. Did you know that?” Ruby asked Luke with huge eyes.
“Actually, I had no idea.” Luke admitted a bit embarrassed.
“Yeah, I almost forgot it myself.” Reid ruefully added.
“Gran-Li accompanies her.” Ruby giggled.
“Why?”
“Because her editor said something stupid and Gran-Li got angry about him, when Mummy told him.”
“But what’s so funny about it?”
“I caught them kissing.”
“And now she is all in a tizzy.” Ravi sighed pointing to his sister.
“There are quite some changes lately, huh?” Reid tenderly squeezed Ruby’s cheek.
“But you won’t leave us and go away with Luke, right?”
“No, sweetie, I won’t leave, and neither will Ravi, okay?”
“We could write that down. Gran-Li told me, that you have to draw a contract if you want people to be true to their word.”
Luke suppressed his chuckle because Ruby was very serious and would surely not be amused if he laughed about her suggestion, besides he knew that the little girl was just terrified.
“So DD wants to talk to me?” Reid suddenly asked his daughter and lightly frowned.
“Yes, you shut down your phone and he didn’t want to bother you earlier so he asked me to be his messenger.”
“Did he?”
Reid smiled at his daughter but Luke could tell that Reid was actually getting irritated and tried to ask him what was wrong - without using words just by looking at him. Reid seemed to understand and raised his brows and shook his head almost unperceptively.  He would find out later - he wouldn’t kill the fun his children’s were obviously having right now.
“You kept them!” Ruby clapped her hands because she’d detected two lonely flowers in a toothbrush glass standing on a sideboard.
“Sure we did!” Reid grinned and looked like a kid himself.

“Ruby, you have to stop waking me in the middle of the night…” Ravi yawned and without knowing what would happen next Luke found his son’s head lightly leaning against his upper arm.
WOW - he felt as if the boy had dedicated a declaration of affection to him and he didn’t dare move.
Maybe watching his two fathers bond made it easier for Ravi to build a more emotional connection with Luke.
“Breathe!” Reid suddenly whispered and smiled at both - at Luke who’d actually held his breath and Ravi who’d closed his eyes and seemed to doze off.
“When did you wake him up?”
Reid asked his daughter whispering.
“I don’t know anymore.” She whispered back.
“Was it still dark outside?”
“Maybe…?”
“You know you shouldn’t do that, right?”
The girl just nodded a bit shamefaced.  Her brother was so much better, but he still needed to rest and all of them knew the boy was too good-natured to deny his sister anything.
“I promise to let him sleep tonight!”
“Good - and tomorrow night, too! Okay? What about we leave Ravi to get some sleep here with Luke and the two of us pay Mummy a visit?”
Obviously relieved that the sermon was over Ruby waited for her father to get ready. While Reid was in the bathroom she turned to Luke and whispered:
“He won’t become sick again, because I woke him up, right?”
“I don’t think so. Look he’s sound asleep now.” Luke and Ruby watched Ravi who’d slipped under the cover and couldn’t be disturbed.
Reid returned from the shower and grabbed his daughter smiling down on Luke who examined the pile of books on Reid’s nightstand.
“I’ll stay with Ravi for a while, okay?”
“Sure!”
Reid couldn’t help but bend down and touch his chin causing another giggle coming from Ruby. In order to not neglect her, he raised her still chubby hand to his lips and kissed it and Luke’s internal chant of ‘cuteness all around’ broke out again.
When Reid and Ruby were gone Luke carefully shifted, he didn’t want to disturb his son’s sleep.
Looking down at him, Ravi had moved - lying on his side in a comfortable position, breathing inaudibly. He’d turn 10 in a few weeks, his skin and features were still childlike - no signs of beginning puberty were seen. Yet he’d shot up after the surgery. Reid had told Luke kids often did that, take a huge leap - mentally and physically after a severe health crisis.
Luke still refused the urge to bend down and kiss his boy, although it was hard not to do that.
He’d heard from mothers of newborns that they were sometimes unable to sleep because they wanted to watch over their babies all the time - terrified the baby would stop breathing.
He got that now.
Shaking his head he recalled his concerns and internal discussions because Reid had made a decision for him by announcing their coming together. But now with Ravi so close to him, displaying innocent trust by falling asleep next to him - he wanted nothing more than for that kind of domestic bliss to never stop.
