Update - I know this appointment has pissed off many progressives, but politically, it's genius. Clinton is now tied at the hip to the policies she previously criticized, making a 2012 insurgency on her part virtually impossible. She's also well known abroad, respected by the top military brass, and is - let's face it - tough as nails (I really can't think of anyone better to send into a room with Putin.) Yeah, she could go rogue, but she could do that in the Senate, too. Better she's inside the tent, and all that.
