Thrice Deadly Faux Pau Strikes Again!!!

Oct 15, 2004 11:15

I realized a faux pau I've been making in not responding in a timely fashion to the comments left in my journal. I really do check my comments, but I need to be more diligent about responding to things posted in my journal, rather than continuing with the habit of thinking, "Hrmph, not quite sure how to answer that at this particular juncture in ( Read more... )

I don't understand. Is the quote from one of the Ghost In The Shell series?

If I was a cyborg, I wouldn't have to eat. I would, however, have to take in electricity. Imagine the power!

no. but it's been on my mind lately because of the Ghost in the Shell stuff i've been reading/watching.

If I was a cyborg, I wouldn't have to eat. I would, however, have to take in electricity. Imagine the power!

but doesn't the brain and spinal column (the minimum biological elements to be considered a cyborg) need some nutrients aside from oxygen/electricity? or am i full of shit?

Gah! You're right. I'd still have to eat brain food.

If you were a cyborg, what would you eat?

hmm...

i would imagine that by the time that cyborg technology would come along, that there would be machines that would take the enzymes and nutrients out of the food that humans normally eat, and that the digestive track would take out the energy from normal human food and transfer it into energy that can be used by the mechanical elements within me. pasta sounds nice. i think someone suggested Cyborg Lasagna?...

i might need an oil change every now and again though... check the fluids too ;)

Do cyborgs have to shave?

only if their skin acts the same way that normal humans' skin acts... to generate, regenerate, and eventually fall off (since hair acts in the same manner, and is considered part of dermatology ( ... )

When I become a cyborg, I will want regenerating skin, but I wouldn't want to shave on a regular basis. Maybe the hair could grow as a response to intelligent control. Like, "I want long hair and mutton chops today." If it grew fast enough, it could even be used by spyborgs to disguise themselves.

wouldn't wigs work just as well?

Have you ever worn a wig? It would be really hard to carry one around through combat, while swimming, etc., without it getting pretty messed up. And facial hair wigs? Yuk. Spybots need better gear!

I do like blue wigs though. I've never had much luck dying my hair a proper blonde, which I think is a first step to getting it any vibrant bright color like blue.

well, for spyborgs, sure...

but for the normal, everyday 'borg, they could implant several halves of snaps in their scalp and have the other halves of the snaps on the wig. i would also imagine wig-technology would be better about entanglement by then too ;)

But that's the thing right there. Right there. No, right there! A normal, everyday 'borg. No way. I certainly don't want to be an everyday 'borg, someone so common that you can just leave off the first part of the noun describing what it is and replace it with an apostrophe. I want action and excitement if I'm going to be a cybernetic organism!!! They'll call me 00111 (that's binary for 007 ( ... )

lol.

the whole rich vs. poor thing would go away with the invent of free energy. which is probably why it'll never happen :P

It's all about control. If it were possible to create "free" energy, it still wouldn't be free because some people would try to control and charge for access to nodes on the distribution network. And then it's been postulated that a certain country recently went to war for the benefit of a large energy corporation to secure a foreign country so that the aforementioned energy company can build an energy pipeline. I have very little hope for 'free' energy.

same here. not to mention that those in control upon its invent would likely supress it to remain in control.
