Please do whatever you can to support this effort. It is critical to progressive change in our communities and an open, democratic government that encourages participation rather than hindering voter options. Mayor West's victory is also key in the ongoing fight for environmental sustainability and social and economic justice.

Please feel free to forward this message widely. And please contact me if you have any questions at all. Your help is invaluable.

Thank you!!!

Subject: I Need Your Help

Dear Friends,

In less than a week, I plan on being re-elected Mayor of New Paltz, and to do so, I need your help.,

Over the last four years, I have overseen fourteen separate capital projects, totaling nearly four million dollars; I've either initiated or been instrumental in planning projects, such as a three year transportation and land use study and a comprehensive overhaul of our master plan that will give us the tools to eliminate traffic congestion, create a more livable, pedestrian friendly community and bring the first village-based public transportation to our community.

When I announced my re-election bid, I got a phone call from a local business owner, pledging his support, saying his business had increased 400% over the past four years. I've heard similar comments from other business owners.

Three years ago, I had a chance to perform 25 same sex marriages, playing some small role in advancing this important civil rights issue in our state. Later that year, I was invited to participate in the United Nations World Conferece of Mayors, where I was one of only a few dozens mayors from around the world to draft and ratify the United Nations Urban Environmental Accords.

For the first time in history, organized labor has stepped up and gotten involved in a New Paltz Village election. I've been endorsed by both the village employees' union -- CSEA Local 1000 -- as well as the Upper Hudson Central Labor Council.

I'm proud of my brief record of public service, and ask your help to serve another term.

Please visit my website and www.jasonwest.org, where you can both read more detail of what I've done, as well as make a donation through our secure paypal link.

I'm looking for one hundred people to give one hundred dollars, to pay for the lawn signs we've distributed, and to allow me to give some small compensation to those who are devoting hours upon hours a day to secure my re-election.

If you can, we on the campaign team would greatly appreciate a larger donation, anything up to the thousand dollar limit.

Feel free to call or write with any questions or concerns you may have, and I thank you for your support.

Sincerely,

Mayor Jason West
