Clone Wars Rewatch: Storm Over Ryloth

1.19 "Storm Over Ryloth"

The webcomic here is “Covetous”.  Separatist leader Passel Argente goes to Ryloth to store some of his valuables there.  Twi’lek leader Cham Syndulla observes this, realizing that the Clone War will finally be reaching Ryloth.  At the same time, the droid that Gha Nachkt sold to Argente back in “Discount”, the web comic that preceded “Downfall of a Droid”, relays footage of the transaction to Wat Tambor.  Seeing his rival on Ryloth, Tambor decides to invade the planet.

Fortune cookie: “It is a rough road that leads to the heights of greatness.”  Applying to Ahsoka here, who loses a number of her men in her initial attack, but regathers herself for the eventual victory.

This Neimoidian captain is awesome.  Still waiting for him to make a return appearance.

I’m sure the EU folks revolted when they found out what appears to be an R2 unit is called R7.  Hammer!

Another Hammer is the design of Ryloth itself, where in the EU it's tidally locked to its star and the Twi'leks live underground near the terminator.  In this trilogy, it seems to simply be a rotating, rocky planet.

How would you like to be the clone assigned to directing the ships where to go?

Always interesting to hear the TIE fighter sound from the Jedi starfighter.

I like the shot of the Separatist cruisers flying in to reinforce the blockade.

Shades of Return of the Jedi with that droid fighter ramming the bridge.

Little bit of Ahsoka’s Theme back in this one.

I wonder what the clones think about being under command of a 14 or 15-year-old kid.

Anakin might be one of those parents that throws his kids into the pool to teach them how to swim.  I’m sure Ahsoka appreciates that.

Nice to see the old Episode I Neimoidian viewscreen back.

I like that Filoni got Ahsoka’s attack plan from Heir to the Empire.

Hard to believe one Jedi and one droid can fly a Star Destroyer by themselves.

Man, those Trade Federation ships are huge.

Cool shot of the Star Destroyer flying in belly first.

Nice little episode.  Big win for our favorite Padawan.

Next: Obi-Wan enters the fray in “Innocents of Ryloth”!
