1.14 "Defenders of Peace"

The webcomic for this episode is “Neighbors” which seems to take place during “Jedi Crash” while Aayla is alone at the Lurmen village.  Tee Watt Kaa relates a story to Aayla about the Lurmen’s arrival on Maridun and how they were attacked by Amanin, a species who gets a spotlight in the Star Wars: Empire comic arc “To the Last Man” (great comic, BTW.  Check it out if you have a chance), who were actually the inspiration for some of the Lurmen elements, such as Wag Too's method of transportation by rolling.  Anyway, the Amanin kept attacking and the Lurmen soon realized it was because the Amanin wanted the ship they’d come in.  The Lurmen therefore gave up their ship to appease the Amanin and Kaa makes the point that they’d rather give up their ship than the principles they believe in.

Cookie: “When surrounded by war, one must eventually choose a side.”  Unless your country is surrounded by the Alps, apparently.  Obviously, this refers to our staunchly peaceful villagers, who are forced to take a side when the Separatists show up on their doorstep in this one.

Man, I find Wag Too’s voice to be even more grating than his father’s.

George Takei!  Hamming it up!  One of the good points of this two-parter.

It’s interesting to hear them called the Separatist Alliance here.  Almost comparing it to the Rebel Alliance.

Heh.  Kaa has a sarcastic side.

I agree with Wag Too’s point here.  It’s pointless to just do nothing to the bully.  Unless there’s a purpose for doing so.  The sad thing is I find Wag Too to be so personally annoying, I don’t want to agree with him.

I guess Ahsoka hasn’t learned Force Speed yet.

Gotta love a guy who pontificates to droids, who could probably not care less.

Then again, they’re cheering so I guess they do.

And Aayla saves Bly again.  Poor Jedi.

Anakin’s bandage over his armor is kind of funny.

You’d think a lightsaber would stand out quite a bit in the darkness.

The droids don’t even notice the base door is open?  Nice security.

Not changing your morals ever is certainly a recipe for failure in the evolving times.

There is a lesson there about the conflict of others affecting innocents.  Collateral damage, if you want to put it that way.  Of course, there is also the lesson of doing nothing in the face of evil, which some would say is a sin in itself.

The droid captain’s reaction to Lok Durd is priceless.

The Republic seems to be using Gungan shield technology.

I’m guessing Aayla uses that acrobatic Form IV lightsaber… uh, the form that we saw with Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan in Episode I.

Seriously, every time Wag Too talks, I kind of want to hit him.  I am not proud of that.

So, these Lurmen won’t destroy the droids themselves, but they’ll get them in a position so Ahsoka can.  Okay then.

Kaa wonders what the cost the help of the Republic will be for his village.  Cue the arrival of three Republic ships.  Three Republic Star Destroyers.  I see what you did there!  If this was Anakin’s Theme, this would be the moment you reach the end of it.
