So my Creative Writing homework (the one I should be doing right now *facepalm*) is to write a personal essay on something we are passionate about. I feel this may be somewhat redundant, but I'm going to do it on writing, why I write and when I started writing and such (because I feel an essay on fandom with just garner confusion *g

Usually because there's a plot I want to see being carried out and no one else will do it *weeps*
Do you write fanfic or original fic as well?
Fanfic, but I have a tendency to go for AU territory where it risks becoming original. But it's the change to characters that really fascinates me.
When did you first start writing?
Um I did on and off for several years since high school, but I'm really erratic about stuff.
Where do your ideas come from? Do you get inspired my music, like I do sometimes?
Sometimes, but most of the time I just like taking plots I see on screen to new directions and pushing stuff to the extremes. Betrayal, characters forced into situations that sort of thing.
Or do you get nifty "what-if" ideas? Is your original fic similar to your fanfic?
I don't really do original fic, since I actually need a character to assassinate. MUAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
And if you only write fanfic, what drives you to write fanfic?
See above. I like ridiculous epic plots that the characters can react to. It's not that I care about plot, it's that there needs to be one (for me) so the characters can have really meaty and fascinating reactions.
How did you get started writing fanfiction?
The What-if scenario, being intrigued by potentials.
Why do you like writing fanfic? Hell, why do you like writing period?
I don't know if I could call it liking writing. I like the sense of finishing something. I like reading what I've written (although I never reread when I finish, though I do reread constantly as I write, not just for editing, sometimes because a scene did come out close to what I visualized and its fun to see it on the page and not in my head where every version is different)
What's your favorite thing about writing? What's your least favorite thing about writing?
I think when things come together, it's fabulous. When you can go back to your climax and think, I built to this and it makes sense! ♥ I mean it might not be to others, but fanfic for better or worse has been a pretty solitary experience for me.

THAT IS THE BEST REASON TO WRITE.
But it's the change to characters that really fascinates me.
This is my favorite thing about AUs. And also the most difficult for me too, because it's so EASY to screw up that I start to worry if it's out of character or not.
I also love the what-if scenario in fanfic, and doing stuff that canon would never do/go there. I love to see how things would occur if canon was given full rein. And of course, porn XD
I LOVE IT WHEN THINGS COME TOGETHER! I LOVE IT! IT'S SUCH A GOOD FEELING!
