As you probably know by the subject, I just finished Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
Honestly? It was a pretty good book. Not the greatest I've ever read, but impressive. The reasons why I can't say I enjoyed it thoroughly are as follows...
1. It felt, at times, like a fanfic. No, really! Beside the actual plot -- That is, Harry's time with Ginny, and his realization that he had to "die", Snape's love for Lily -- When I was reading them, I couldn't help but think, "Haven't I read this before? By what I thought was a less talented writer? -_-?" Rowling is good, better than me by far, but there were parts where I could definitely see her inner fangirl. XD
2. WHY. WHY. WHY DID FRED HAVE TO DIE? >_>;;;; I wasn't really surprised, but I really felt that it was completely unnecesary... And that she never gave George's thoughts, I was shocked by that.
3. The ENTIRE BOOK THROUGH, I was baffled -- I thought, "How on earth are they going to make a movie out of this?" XDDDDD Saving all the juiciest plot for last is gonna give 7's director and writers and such a hell of a time. XD
4. SNAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAPE. T______T Okay, this is biased, I admit it. XD I didn't cry for him, I actually only cried when Harry used the Resurrection Stone, but I was a... a little shocked.
5. The Epilogue. Didn't. Mention. LUNA. >>;;;;;;;;;;;; WHAT THE HELL.
The reasons why I DID like the book, however~~~
1. The final battle. GOSH. Wow. Neville kicked so much motherfuckin' ASS. That boy's sexy went up OVER NINE THOUSAAAAAAND points in this one book alone. >3~ *_* And, and, Voldemort getting his goods at last, and Harry calling him Riddle, and -- dkfnksdf. Just wow. *feints from fangirl overload*
2. Scorpius. XDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD I choked on my saliva on that one. Oh, DRACO, YOU HAVE SUCH WONDERFUL TASTE IN NAMES~ *____*
3. Following Draco, I'm really glad he's not total scum! Mostly scum, but not total, I appreciate that. ^_____^;;
4. The painting in Luna's bedroom. *sigh* Makes me all the more upset that I don't know what happened to her. I wanted to know what kind of lover our spacey chick would take, what job she went on to excel at, if she had any children and what kind of delightfully ridiculous names she likely gave them... BUT THE PAINTING WAS VERY CUTE. *grins through a broken heart*
5. That Harry respected Snape at the very end. That was very consoling, at least.
Overall... I liked this book and series very much. I liked the plot, I loved the characters... But I think I'd have to say that I'd like nothing more than for a new book to take it's place as soon as possible. This fandom is wholly too depressing. XD;
Alright then, move along, nothing to see here~ ;3
