Well, it was another beautiful weekend and one I was able to spend with Emily. I had a lot of fun on Friday even though I had to help my brother move into his new apartment in New Ulm. It is rather strange to think that he's about 3 minutes away instead of 5 1/2 hours. Hmmm...
But, Emily came down and we had a blast, got to sleep in a tent in my backyard to get her used to camping in the great outdoors. We're going to Sibley State Park on the weekend of the 12th-14th and I'm very much looking forward to it. Some hiking, some bird-watching, swimming in a lake perhaps, and campfires... oh how I love campfires.
Sunday, I went to an outdoor mass for the combined Catholic Maronite (not Mennonite) churches of St. Paul and Minneapolis and I've realized just how much this sort of mass means to me than a Catholic service at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm. It just seems so much more relaxed, but more dignified, more holy. I just really like that they have not discarded their "base" of the Arabic language and it just sounds wonderful to hear the Lebanese priest recite and sing such a beautiful language. It reminds me of when my dad sometimes says certain parts of the Roman Catholic mass in Latin. Well, I think that over time I'd like to learn Arabic. I think celebrating mass at the Maronite churches with Emily really makes me happy. I really feel at home in the church.
Well, another great weekend in the books. Now, on to the midnight shift. But, I'm heading to Smurf's for a rousing game of Trivial Pursuit. I must regain my title. Toodloo.
