i found this from tabby's journal, and commented on it... i enjoyed my own comment so much (HA!... no, i'm not biased ;)) i thought i'd share it with you guys, and maybe get some insight...
Define love? What's the difference between love and familiarity? Love and affection? Love and infactuation? Do you think that love holds no meaning in the American language and culture anymore?
love... familiarity... familiarity is basically being stuck in a rut. you are "familiar" with things you've become used to, not things you continually find amusing and interesting. you are "familiar' with your surroundings, your family, a town... you love something that despite different likes and dislikes, you still find interest in.
affection: what you show when you love or care for something. whether it be verbal or actions.
infatuation (yes, there is a typo on your end :P) infatuation is the one-sidedness of a love situation... only one member loves the other (or perhaps the other does not know of the love?)
and personally, i think love is still currently used correctly in our language and cultural, although it is slowly becoming just another slur to express how one feels about a certain band (CRIMSON SCORCH *nudge nudge*) or clothing. :(
