Trebont!
[Spotted him! She hurries up to stand beside him and waves happily.]
I found you!
Reply
Indeed.
[Kneels to her level.]
'Tis very kind of you to come out all this way.
Reply
You really do talk funny!
[She reaches forward and takes his hand, a big smile on her face.]
Are you ready to go, Trebont? What do you want to see first?
Reply
The best places to live, maybe? Since I know not if they'll let me stay in that little commune forever.

[With a grin and a little tug on his hand, she starts walking.]
We get to go through the market on the way! They have lots of good food there! Even though some of the vendor guys don't really like me.
[The mischievous glint in her eyes says it may be well-deserved dislike, and that it doesn't bother her in the least.]
Reply
[One brow crinkles.] Is it because you're... one of us and not them?
Reply
Mm, that could be part of it I guess. They call me 'scorched' all the time like its a mean word. But they also don't like when I climb on their signs, either!
[Her grin is decidedly impish. She is clearly unbothered by the vendors' opinions of her either way.]

[Typical adult talk, and he shows that self awareness to her with a wink. They pass one stall with some sort of hideous exotic meat hanging from its hooks. Trevor twists about to get a look without breaking their pace.]
What the deuce was that?!
((OOC: Feel free to claim it was any local delicacy. XD))

You're right about that! Ken-chan would be really mad if I got hurt! And when he's mad people get really scared! That's cuz he's really strong! He's the strongest shinigami there is!
[She laughs at his wink. She likes Trebont already! And as they pass, she barely spares a glance at the odd looking meat, as by now it is a fairly familiar sight to her.]
I think those things live in the mist. The natives like to eat them! They look really icky but they don't taste too bad!
Reply
[They reach the tail end of the marketplace.] Ivory is money here, hm? Do you and Ken-chan live well with enough of it, Yachiru?
Reply
Yup! That's the money! Me and Ken-chan do just fine! We even have enough for candy and stuff! We work for the patrol and Scilly pays pretty well!

[Gazes up at the apartment building, sizing it up. This looked better than decent. As they move toward it, something Yachiru said makes him regard the little fingers around his own.]
You're a trained fighter. [Not a question.]

[At his statement, smiles and raises her left hand (the hand not still clasping his) and shows the sword that hangs from a string on her wrist. It's small and pink, but it is undeniably a real weapon and not a toy.]
Yup! And I'm really strong, too!
[With that same hand, she points up at the building.]
Byakushi lives here! It's really nice on the inside, too!

[Trevor can see just inside the door from where they're standing. She's right; it does look cozy.]
Might we take a look? Today could be my lucky day.
[His eyes shine warmly. Because if it really is, then he'll owe it to her.]
Reply
[She bounces forward to pull open the door for them to enter the neat entry hall of the building, tugging him along behind.]
It's pretty, right? But I don't usually come in this way~
[Another impish grin. Yachiru has her own way of getting around the city.]

[This place was pretty well maintained and shockingly clean for someone used to hard living. He picks up Yachiru briefly to step over some rogues slumbering right out in the hall. Looks like they'd enjoyed the local brew a tad much.]
You're right; a man could live here decently. I see they've left the doors open for empty rooms.
[He peers into each one as Yachiru leads him past them. One room in particular catches his eye. It's a little spartan affair that's half storage space and half living quarters. Already he can see those shelves populated with a hunter's odds and ends. Trevor lays his free hand on the doorframe, looking pleased.]
I rather this like one. What do you think?
