It was the same as before, Itachi realized. The same as that time. Humanity could be warring with itself, the world could be at its end, but all that would ever matter to him was his little brother, Sasuke.
Others could claim to be making a new life for themselves here in Anatole, and he could claim to be following in those footsteps, but for him, that's all that it was. A claim. An illusion... the same sort of lies he had always been so good at fabricating before. The truth was... he would never change. He couldn't, not so long as there existed the possibility of Sasuke needing him.
And was this how it would be when Shinra was fully formed and he was a Turk and no longer a shinobi? Of course... because he could give up his life for his little brother, but not for a strange ideal. Not for a stranger.
What about Elena?

[Elena's gaze snapped back to him, and she hurried the few steps that he'd managed to get ahead of her. Because of course he wouldn't pause, not when it came to Sasuke. Elena knew that much.

[To be hiding in Dismas could mean a number of things...but few of them were good. Elena tried to keep her frown hidden. Itachi would undoubtedly be worried enough already.

Approximately half a week ago, two days after Sasuke's birthday came and went, Sakura Haruno informed me that she was temporarily canceling our training sessions.
