[And here he comes, a small purple and red creature sitting on his shoulder and making excited noises into his ear. He's talking back to it and scratching its ears as he approaches, looking for . . . THERE.] Hey! You're Clare, right?
[ooc: just so you know if you want to plot out the thread or something I'm on AIM all the freakin' time, including now, so, um, hit me up if you want.]
[Clare gives a brief nod in reply but it turns into a quizzical head-tilt at the sight of the creature on his shoulder.] That is my name. Are you ready? [She doesn't actually wait for an answer, just turns to start down the steps.]
You live here? [Johan is looking around, rather wide-eyed. He's seen places kind of like it, but still far from what he's seeing right now--sort of like comparing a city with a single blackjack table to Las Vegas.] It's, erm . . . . dark--[And as he makes the observation, the critter on his shoulder vanishes.] Ruby!!
No, she--[He raises one hand to the side of his head, looking panicked.] I can't hear her, either . . . [He looks up at Clare, appearing to be a combination of afraid and angry.] What is this place?
[Gives him a considering look as she tries to think how to explain Dismas' power-draining ability.] Underneath the city all youki energy seems to be involuntarily suppressed. Everyone is equal.
Youki . . . ? [He still looks panicked, but slightly less so.] Then this . . . is normal? [He gestures at his shoulder.] She's okay, she just . . . can't stay out here?
All the powers that make Scorched different to normal humans cannot be accessed down here. Unless you fight in the arena. So I suppose, if your animal is... [keeps giving the empty space on your shoulder weird looks, not sure why it's been affected.]
So because she's solid because of whatever it is I can do . . . [He looks down. Then he backs up a couple of steps into the last of the sunlight and pauses before stepping back down.] All right. Let's go.
