It was only after leaving Dismas that she had to be careful. People were pretty much the same in the tunnels, different shades of gray. They were looking for something, or hiding from something, or had circumstances that kept them from asking too many questions of others, provided that you paid them the same courtesy. Of course, there were exceptions -- people who were curious, almost tourists with their curious glances and careful steps. There were also people who didn't come there regularly, who actually looked down on Dismas, but would venture there when they couldn't find what they needed anywhere else. You could always count on the tunnels to be there when you really needed them.

"Dammit, I should've brought a blanket or something."

Elena crouched down, struggling with the bundle in her arms. One end or the other kept trying to peek out of the jacket that she'd wrapped around it. She hugged it tightly before standing and hurrying along again, head down and eyes downcast. The behavior earned her more looks than her most recent purchase would have if she'd just left it uncovered.

Fortunately Mahjong Palace wasn't too far away...or had she decided on some other name? Elena couldn't remember now. It was just another of her little projects that had fallen by the wayside due to work overload. Oh, she still intended to open the place some day. She would open the place someday. Just...not today.

The bundle almost slipped from her arms as she searched for her keys. Even though the place had just been sitting abandoned, Elena still had a number of locks on the door and boards across the windows -- not to mention some of Matt's security. But once everything was undone, Elena slipped into the darkness inside. But not before tossing a few furtive glances around, the classic tell-tale sign of someone up to something. On the other hand...when wasn't she?

"Shiva..."

Elena muttered a few curses as the bundle started to slip again. She hurried towards the basement of the building, not even taking the time to lock the door behind her.

She was coming back for it. Honest.
