[Byakuya does not like corpses. He doesn't like walking corpses. He doesn't like walking corpses trying to attack him and anything else that moves. He likes it even less when it's freezing outside, when there are children in tow or a bothersome human who knows the situation, yet makes it complicated by knowing more than he does.

But he can get over it. He's only taking a moment of reprieve, picking up reports from the refugees before he goes back out. Hopefully... alone this time and there won't be anyone to bring back.

The captain remains in the entrance hall, suppressing that thin aura of power he'd been using to keep himself from doing something as ridiculous as shivering to warm up more naturally, listening to the small conversations that occur all around him.]

[After the children are safely shepherded inside, he walks cautiously over to Byakuya, glancing at him and away as if trying to find words. Polite, appropriate ones, anyway.]

Of course not. [It's an automatic response--after all, he had seen to it that everything went as smoothly as possible. A little difficult considering what they had to work with, but well enough.]

Yeah, I won't. See, I'm used to being the aid.

My guns...? Yeah, they'll only keep firing so long as I have bullets. But I've been hanging onto any that I found since I got here, so I think I'll be okay for a few more days at least. Even when I run out, I've still got a knife.

[Brave act, for sure. Stabbing a zombie in the eye can work, but it is not a good plan. Even he knows that.]

[And Quatre does not like Byakuya. When he recognizes the man, he pauses in his step, not sure what to say or do. He certainly wants to say something and maybe punch him, but he just watches the other for several moments.

[At the new approach, he gives him nothing but a passing glance. Someone he doesn't know. Someone he's fairly certain he doesn't need to know. At least, he believes, he was smart enough to get out of the way.]

What concern is it of yours?

[There is a pause, like Quatre looks ready to lose his temper. Every single time he has seen Byakuya speak, it's something infuriatingly emotionless and callous; he isn't too hideous (for the time being) now, but Quatre really does not like this dude.]

Am I bothering you?

[Byakuya pays little attention to his 'companion'. Instead, he flexes his fingers experimentally, checking the difference in their response since he arrived.]
