There are too many words and emotions, and not enough belong to Quatre. The rage and the sorrow and the death, it drowns him and fills his lungs, and if there were anything else to feel, it's like the sun when viewed from under water: too far to reach or even see because everything blurs. There are no waves anymore, just sinking, pulling faster and faster to the bottom - if there even is a bottom. It's an ocean trench that never ends, and the pressure is too much. His head feels too small for all the volume in it, like it could burst, and everything is dizzying; his heart alternates between speed pounding and squeezing tightly; and his limbs sometimes feel like phantoms or too big, too small.

Still, he walked outside and into a maze. (Where did the walls come from? He doesn't remember, maybe they were there before. Is it -) The Undercity is safe; it will be quiet because everything goes away there. At least that's what they said, but he believes it because he has to. He has to be there because, then, his head will feel normal, and his heart won't just give out, and his legs will feel real. He has to go under to go above.

Quatre sits, though and rests, his head against a maze wall. The walk seems too much at that very moment; between the drowning and the are they real or are they fake? walls and the way each corridor of the stupid maze seems longer than the last...he needs a moment to collect what little of himself he still knows is there.
