She curled against the door, Shell in her arms. It had been strange, really -- she never expected something like this to happen. This itching feeling in the back of her not-heart like she was supposed to be doing something or being somewhere. But she was just here, and it wasn't going away.

There was a gradual lessening, though -- slow, like ice melting, but it was going away. Not bothering her so much anymore, but... it didn't make any sense. She knew she wasn't anything to him. She wasn't anything to anybody, really, so why was it like -- she needed to be?

And how could a Nobody have needs anyway?

Aside from biological things, food and drink and sleep, she wasn't supposed to feel at all. And suddenly she missed Castle Oblivion, the first days, when she just drew and didn't know anything else. But then, at the same time -- it was better to have this feeling, this little voice in her skull screaming for something, than to have nothing at all.

A knock on the door sounded behind her, and she jumped. Shell was a little startled and bounced his way out of her arms to skitter under the table, the energy from the other side of the door overpowering the little rabbit. The girl stood slowly, then grasped the handle lightly.

The feeling was almost gone. All there was left to open the door, and --

"Hello," she said quietly, giving him a faint smile and opening it a little wider so he could step inside. "You came."
