Where: A nondescript cafe near the Outlander Community Block

What: Sasori and Valeria get to know each other (again) over a meal.
Warnings: Smoking puppet masters, and a double helping of awkward
Sasori puffed on his cigarette nervously, pacing outside the brick-walled cafe Valeria had sent him directions to. It didn't help his unease that he was feeling the chill in the air whenever the wind picked up; he'd chosen to shed his far warmer Akatsuki cloak in favor of a more inconspicuous brown one previously worn by one of his old spare bodies.
New world, new rules. That red cloud pattern only served to draw attention here rather than warn it off, and the last thing he wanted was to stand out from the crowd when he didn't have his associates to back him up.
Still, there were a few things he had difficulty leaving behind, and that was connections like the one he'd formed with Valeria in the place he'd been before arriving in Anatole. Admittedly, he could use any allies he could get here and so it was only sensible to take advantage of this opportunity, but he knew that wasn't really why he was seeking to reform this bond.
When had he become so weak? What had happened to that boy who'd scratched out his headband and severed his ties to his village without looking back, all those years ago?
Sasori stopped in his tracks, flicking the butt of his cigarette away irritably and pulling another one out. He used the handsign for that little firestarter jutsu to focus and clear his mind, as well as conjure the spark that would light the new one.
His controlled demeanor restored, he scanned up and down the street for any sign of Valeria. This time, he wouldn't let himself get too attached, no matter how friendly things might become between them. He wouldn't.
