[closed] black invitation to this place that cannot change

Nov 02, 2011 20:42

Who: Nymphadora Tonks and Theon Greyjoy
When: November 3rd, before the Twins party
Where: Anatole streets
Format: Paragraph to start, action or whatever to follow.
What: Tonks is going to try to attend the Twins party. She's going to run into Theon.
Warnings: Angst!

She has to do this on her own. Her own steps, unaided and unassisted, have to guide her to the Twin’s party. Tonks cannot depend on anyone for this. No one needs to hold her hand and no one needs to make sure that she isn’t snuck up on from behind again. This is on her.

No one’s happiness at the party should be dependent upon Tonks’ attendance. She had been vague when the question came up of herself actually attending. She said she would try to make it. She said that she wasn’t sure. There were a lot of vague responses on her part. It had not been a lie outright. Up until she stepped out her front door, Tonks had not known if she’d be able to attend.

The last costume party had started off beautifully for Tonks. He liked her. He really did. It had really started off so well but it had not ended well, not for her.

So far, her steps have been steady. Tonks has not hurried but neither has she dawdled either. Her breathing is regular and for the first bit of her journey, she has hope that she’ll actually be able to make it. Bellatrix will not have won. Tonks will finally have come full-circle in her recovery. Tonks will be the victor.

It is supposed to be a costume party but her last costume idea is tainted. She can never be Peaseblossom. That is gone. What Tonks has done instead is simply where her own clothes and attach a pair of ears to the top of her head. A brown and white bunny is not the most elaborate of ideas but she is trying to keep in the same spirit as the party. It will do.

Tonks lifts her head and expels a soft breath. She’s very close now but she’s made a mistake. What if? It’s a simple thought those two little words. It’s so simple that in trying not to dwell she’s completely forgotten not to think about that. She can’t live her life like that but knowing that doesn’t keep her from thinking it.

What if Bellatrix is there? What if someone does approach her from behind? What if? What if? What if? Involuntarily, she recalls what happened at the last party. Bellatrix. It had gone beyond torture. For a while, Tonks had been a broken thing.

But she had gotten better, with time and with friends. Tonks had come a long way but now? All she can think about is what happened to her the last time. They didn’t even miss her until too late. They never found her. If she hadn’t have escaped would they have ever found her?

Tonks stops walking. She almost doubles over the memories and feelings are too great. She manages to not fall over. Instead, she leans up against a cobblestone wall. Her chest constricts on her to the point that she finds it hard to breath. Her hands start to shake. This is a mistake. She can’t do this. She’s sorry but she can’t.

By the time, she turns around the tears are freely falling. She’s so sorry but she just can’t.
