[Perhaps it is cruelty, or wisdom in battle, that drives the elves to attack Greenhouse Row. Either way, the trees, the vines, the crops are all burning, and the shattered glass is scattered over the ground.]

Her boots have long since become hardly worth mentioning, the leather slashed and rent by shards of glass. I should have gotten better-soled ones, Asellus thinks, and a bubble of almost hysterical laughter follows, though she swallows it as quickly as she can and fills another bucket of water from the cistern with one hand, Asura clutched tight in the other, just in case ( ... )

[She'd come down of the rooftops for this sweep - followed the cries and the shouting. Followed the bright and the ash and the heat.

It's hard to tell which is which in the haze of smoke, and she coughs into her sleeve, presses it to her mouth and nose as she moves forward, stepping over broken things.

(Here a dead thing there a dead thing oh god what am I doing?

The scythe in her other hand is crusted red with disuse, not blood, but she's resolved to use it if she has to.

Closer, closer and the familiar flash of green hair.]

H-hey?! Do you need---

[What she doesn't need is a hand on her shoulder, but that's what she's got - and it spins her, catches her off guard. As she turns, she begins to lose her footing, skidding on glass and blood and going down hard.]

---help!

[She can no more ignore that cry out than she can stop herself mid-turn to find out the source, and with a kick, she shoves the red elf that had been her target into the fire itself. The stink of burning flesh and a shriek go utterly ignored as she stumbles through the smoke, sweat cutting lines into the ash crusted on her skin. It's not hard to find Dawn, since she lacks the ink-black hair of the elves and isn't a beastling; the glass on the ground has Asellus concerned, though, and she offers a hand up while scanning for any major injury.]

Are you alright? [Her posture is protective even as she's offering a hand, Asura held like a dagger rather than a sword. Warding off the enemy is easier like that than having to strike out.] It's not exactly safe here; you lost? [Is that weapon covered in rust?]

[The funny thing is? He'd be okay if the food supply was gone. It's not like he really needs any of it. That doesn't make these creepy bastards setting it on fire at all okay, however, so when Angel sees the smoke from the area he heads towards it as quickly as possible, in spite of it probably being a bad idea.]

[At least he brought a weapon this time.]

[That and his game face. Literally. While he wouldn't normally bring it out in the streets, the circumstances are just this side of drastic enough, and there's a clot of elves between him and the greenhouses that are really getting on his nerves.]

[Cordy's been mostly running around trying to help get natives to safety (as much as any of them will let her help them) but when she notices the fire and smoke, she heads off toward that area because that's generally a really bad sign.

Though she's been mostly helping evacuate people, she does have a sword with her because she's not dumb. She knows she might need to fight at some point, and she's human. She needs a weapon if she expects to get very far in a battle.

As she approaches the greenhouses she notices a group of elves, and a familiar vampire with a soul. There's a small feeling of relief at seeing him. After years of working together, it feels more naturally to fight at his side than by herself.]

Looks like you could use some help with this, big guy.

[And here Gin was all prepared to just sit back and watch. But dried persimmons are hard enough to find as it is without savages and monsters breaking and burning the trees that grow them. Some things just can't be forgiven.]

Ahh, looks like I've got no choice.

[For a guy with 'no choice', he looks awfully happy to be facing a few of those elves.]

[She likes the open spaces, preferring this more "natural" territory when faced with something unknown. Urban combat is one thing, but it requires extensive knowledge of your surroundings. Here, though, she's just a little bit more at home.

Olivier steps out into the street, ducking out carefully from a shadowed place. They're close, but not too close. It's strategy time.]

[Eugene's been sliding in and out of shadows, hoping to get supplies for those that needed it, especially the clinic. Not that they said anything about needing supplies, but he figured that it would be better to be safe then sorry. After all, Rapunzel was safe, so it wasn't like he needed to hang around, getting in their way.

Besides, what other way to keep his thieving skills in perfect condition then running around 'collecting' supplies and hitting things with a frying pan!]
