Walls of books rose to great heights around him. Some were as ancient as the ruins themselves, others as new as the most recent occupants of the city. Worn spines faced outward upon dusty shelves; here or there a book was jammed back into place facing the wrong direction. Their yellowed pages, bent and torn, jutted outward. With so many to keep track of and so many residents frequenting the library, it was no wonder tidiness was seen to with a remiss attention.

Hand picked titles lay open before Isley upon a table that had seen better days. Stacks of papers including his own were spread out as well. He had been taking notes, and comparing those to older ones he had taken, and those with the notes others had recorded in the past. It was tedious and time consuming, but he would not trust such precise work to another.

Edward was on his way. The young man had an interest in science, and possessed the power of alchemy. He had also once pursued resurrection, and he had spoken of a Gate that could, in theory, restore what had once been lost. Although the eldest Elric had said that the Gate and the Door were not alike, Isley was not so certain.

The young man's Gate was the source of alchemical knowledge and power. The Door was the source of...well, Isley intended to find out. That Edward had agreed to help him in his research made things that much easier.

He scribbled down October and began scrawling the names of all those that had arrived, the respective dates in chronological order, and any unusual circumstances which could be connected. The Starks' timely arrival was one such example, as well as the arrival of that girl from their world, mother to her dragons, Daenerys.
