open; let's go with both nights, since shirley is a lush... thenobledie August 20 2011, 04:02:25 UTC
[ so she doesn't care for the lot of you, atm. there are a handful she doesn't feel displeasure with, but they are that: a handful. that doesn't mean she hates everyone else, or even dislikes them, and will refuse to talk to them. she is kind of here for the booze, though... let's be real.

for now, shirley is drinking a brandy on the rocks at the bar and people-watching. shh, this is a highly intense sport. ]

[Deneve moves near to her on the other side of the bar. She doesn't speak yet or force her presence on Shirley. It's loud enough in the bar already. But they haven't spoken since Shirley was young and Deneve wonders how much if any of their conversation she remembers.

Deneve does attempt to follow the direction of Shirley's gaze to see if she has found something particularly interesting. She enjoys a bit of people watching herself.]

[ at the moment, it's a group of young people - no older than twenty-three or -four. they've been bar hopping, it seems; that, or they really did go outside for a short while to bring sticks inside and pretend to be a fellowship on a quest. someone is the wizard, and her stick is the biggest. ]

This bar finds itself with the strangest drunks.

[ and then, she looks to deneve as she sips her brandy. ]

sorry for the delay ;; twoswordjuniper September 1 2011, 03:26:24 UTC
[She watches them tromp around some of the tables, some of them drunkenly sloshing drinks as they go.]

It does seem to bring in the odd ones for some reason.

[She stares at them, rather deadpan, and dries a glass.]

So long as they don't break anything.

[And she finally turns to look at Shirley.]

I take it you've recovered.

[From... being young and not remembering things.]

no problem! ❤ thenobledie September 1 2011, 21:55:10 UTC
Yes, from the terrible affliction of ignorance. They say it is bliss.

[ it's hard to say if she is happy or not to be old and dead and even more unhappy than before. okay, maybe pleased is a better word to use. ]

I wouldn't agree, personally. But everyone prefers what they will.

[She pours herself a drink in the glass she dried but doesn't touch it yet. She likes to take things slow.]

I have not decided myself.

[ shirley doesn't remember a time she hasn't been a secret-keeper of sorts. there was innocence in her childhood, but even then, she knew things she shouldn't have. sometimes, she wonders what it would have been like to be without her clairvoyance. ]

No?

[She touches her fingers to the glass and waits for Shirley to elaborate... or not, as she chooses.]

To make such a decision, I must have a perspective I am not capable of.

[ and drinking her brandy. food for thought but not really important, as it were. ]

Hm. Yes. Once you know something it can become difficult to remember what it was like before you possessed that knowledge. The bigger the revelation, the harder it is to go back.

[Finally she drinks.]

As if there were not a time one did not possess such knowledge.

Yes.

[She has a little experience with that, herself.]
