Who:
divinelyhushed and
stray_gunner .
When: Saturday night-ish.
Where: DISMAS.
Format: starting with action, but whatever's most convenient.
What: Nill goes into Dismas, and Heine follows her. This is going to go down like a lead balloon, isn't it?
Warnings: heine in dismas. uh. yeah.
(
several years of separation. )
[but those slight sidesteps were thwarted. people walked behind her in the street as well, occasionally brushing past her in a way that was too close and too personal to be "accidental". the urge to cry rose in Nill's throat, the feel very much akin to gagging upon food, and those shaking hands moved to touch her wibbling lips.]
[and then, when she turned her head once more, her eyes alit upon a familiar face. and, slightly comforted by the very appearance of Heine, she took purposeful steps toward him. one, then two.... and before a moment, Nill was trotting quickly through the crowd with the utmost caution - as fast as she could without knocking into people. but even with her precautions, the blond may have trod on a few feet on accident in her hurry to get to him.]
[surely...Heine'd know a way out of here. and even if he didn't, they could be lost together. and...Nill was quite sure she'd feel a whole lot more comforted if she were holding onto his sleeve - or given a quick hug.]

he doesn't call out her name, aware of the people who might hear the bit of information and use it. instead he walks faster, and reaches out to grasp her hand.]
Let's go.
[voice rough with unsaid words, he pulls her arm so that she's closer to him and immediately starts toward the entrance. he's not afraid (he'll never be scared again, he'll never be lost) but afraid for her. it's strange to care, to remember the mindset he had over a year ago.]
...sorry. [for being so abrupt, for not coming sooner, for not being there, but he doesn't specify.] We have to hurry.

[she still couldn't see the end of this place - these shadows seeming never ending. but people were generally giving them a wider birth, what with the disinterest in a pair, and the need to side step to avoid getting bumped into.]
[Nill swallowed hard at his statement, and nodded; I'm sorry, too]
[for getting lost, for making a mistake, for coming down here in the first place.]

[he still sounds slightly harsh, almost sharp, but he loosens his tight grasp just a little, trying not to hurt her. dismas's many streets and buildings are familiar to him, and it's not long before they draw nearer to the exit.
but before they can leave, they have to pass through a series of narrow alleys. heine on his own is generally able to avoid conflict, but with nill in tow, they're garnering some thoughtful looks.]

[it didn't seem beyond people down here to do more than stare.]
[Nill dislikes those looks, and does her best to keep her wings tucked against her body under the makeshift cloak (a blanket and a pin), and her hair in her face. it's little protection, but some at least.]

two or three are following from behind, and another four walk directly towards them. heine doesn't stop until he's forced to by a significantly taller man standing face-to-face with him and not stepping to the side.]
Move.
[he pulls nill closer to him.]
