[Things to do, Colonel, so just move along and---]
[...]
[Was that a tug? Tch. Of course n----]
Take your hands out of your pockets.
Reply
[His gaze momentarily flits downward toward his hand in his pocket. That little nudge which had detoured him is back...
In response to her request, though, he held gloved hands up slowly as if in surrender.]
Satisfied?
Reply
No.
[A step closer and that stupid tugging seems to ease. A step back and there it is just faint enough to annoy. So a step closer it is, then.]
It is you.
[sigh]
Take off your gloves.
Reply
Sighing in irritation, he pulls his gloves off and tucks them away in his pockets before holding his hands up again. This time, that damnable string is visible.]
And now?
Reply
[Sigh.]
[She's showing you her ribbon. It only looks like she's flipping you the bird. Okay, maybe it's both.]
Lovely.

So how long are we stuck with each other before this thing is satisfied?
[And what, exactly, are they supposed to do?
...also, more importantly to him, how is he supposed to explain this to Riza?]
Reply
How am I supposed to know?
Is this your first time~
[WHAT. It's her second, okay. It just sounded worse out loud. Yeah, she doesn't really care how it sounded.]
Reply
[Had she not thrown in that second part, he'd have been fine. But she did. And so she's got his hackles raised.]
What the hell kind of question is that?
[He's pretty sure she's referring to being set up against his will, but did she have to phrase it as though she were talking to a total virgin?]
Reply
You're not my first date. You only have the one string?
[Smiling in his face now. Thank you for making this more bearable, by the way.]
What makes you think I'd try to come home with you?
[Tch. FINE. She would totally try. Just to make him uncomfortable. Or to satisfy that awful little impulse that's never quite gone away. It's ridiculous when she thinks about it - nothing about this would hurt Remus at all. If he hadn't cared when they were (together?) whatever they were, he certainly wouldn't care now.]
I could have my way with you right here if I wanted. I wouldn't need to follow you home.
If I wanted.

[So very not pleased, he is. And thank you for bringing that up, because that one leads to you when it should lead to Riza.
The thought of Riza, however, that makes him smirk slightly.]
Somehow I doubt you could... and unless you like sloppy seconds, you probably wouldn't want to.
Reply
I guess you're not as popular, then. Which is ...completely understandable.
[Passive aggressive pause.]
How is your leg? Does it itch?
[You know, from the hair growing back? She really, really hopes it itches.]
I said if. And I don't, so it's irrelevant.
[But now you have kind of said another thing, Colonel, and that thing brings with it a whole host of memories (DoraRemusNot-quite-Dora) and it's enough to set her teeth on edge. And her phasers to Troll.]
Did you want to find out? What I like? It'd be like having the both of you, in a way, wouldn't it~
[Drops the words like poison. Smiles hideously.]
Reply
[Aw man, did she have to bring that up? Smiling through clenched teeth because he was doing a very good job of ignoring it until now, thanks.]
Oh no~ it's perfectly fine~
[His little "miniskirt harem dream"? Consider it shattered. If this is what women have to go through every time their leg hair grows back in, they can continue wearing pants so they don't have to shave at all! After that experience, he's never complaining about it again!
But oh~ she wants to go there, huh? Sorry, Lust, but if you're going there, so is he.]
Not particularly, since I highly doubt an inhuman doll could measure up to the real thing~
Reply
What should she care if he thinks she's more human or less human than she is? (Or isn't. Whatever.) She can't even tell how much she cares at any given moment, lately, so what's the problem?
The problem is all of it.]
You like slinging that word around, don't you? It's funny how half the Scorched here are something other than human. Inhuman, even, yet you seem to reserve that word for me.
What's your real problem? You know, since we're going to be spending some quality time together.
I seem to remember an occasion or two where you didn't exactly have complaints.
Reply
[He's curious to see what happens if he decides to just walk away from the entire encounter. Now that he knows who has the other end of his string, would it be more insistent in its pull? Or would it be the same as before?
And so, for the sake of science, he does just that: turns and starts to walk away, giving her a halfhearted wave in response.]
While I didn't have complaints before, something happened which changed that. My problem is that I can't seem to grasp what I did that would have merited it. You, on the other hand, haven't been the same for the past few months. I think instead of asking me about my problems, you should be figuring out your own.

She had neither meant nor planned to.
Another thing she hadn't planned was to reach out in an attempt to spin him back around, all the sarcasm bled from her voice in favor of desperation and anger. There's a look in her eyes that might make him glad they're in Dismas.]
What do you mean by that?
