[For the past few hours - even though night had fallen and it was hard to see - Lavi's been hard at work using his carpentry skills in the house he had purchased with saved Patrol wages. It was far enough from any other occupied building that he was pretty sure he wasn't bothering anyone, at least no one had come and complained about all the noise.

So he worked, hard labor always let his mind go off as he did the same thing over and over again. He had almost finished rebuilding the entrance way of the house now. He had avoided the fighting for the most part, it was the Mist that got him when he sought to evade others, and Allen hadn't managed to hit him.

But he was so wrapped up in his thoughts - should he return or not - that he didn't even notice Shirley's presence.]

[another moment and shirley says nothing to alert him. she only watches, unsure still. she could leave - he's safe, and that is what she came here to know, but lavi is too important for that option. finally, she takes a step toward him.]

Lavi.

[and the name feels wrong in her mouth.]

[Startled the hammer drops out of his hand as he moves to lift it back up from the nail and Lavi stares at it for a moment. Not quite sure how it happened or why it did. Then he realizes someone called out to him.

Lavi lifts his head and looks out into the dark street.]

[lol oops. shirley steps closer, enough to be seen properly, but makes no other movement. she doesn't say anything, either. words are hard. (or, she is still thinking of what to say that hasn't been said before. no arguments, one-sided or otherwise. there has been enough in anatole lately to last for several months.)]
