Lupin turned back, and on impulse, gripped Merlin's shoulder before continuing.
"Yes, I heard from him. He's holding the Patrol together."
His mouth tightens a moment in thought, then he says, "Come with me." As if they hadn't been walking together already…
Lupin brings Merlin to a top floor of the clinic, with its narrow hallways and staircases less useful to the staff and the refugees and so all-but deserted; then to a back storage room. He points to two objects in a closed cabinet, where they won't be grabbed by accident.

Merlin's eyes widen as he approaches the cabinet, his hands lifting as if to touch the glass, only for him to force them down at his sides again.
"They're magic." He smiles a bit, feeling it. Merlin turns his head to look at Lupin as he explains, visibly curious about the portkeys. One for the dojo, and one for-
His eyes widen, just a fraction. Arthur is just as Lupin described, but with those, Merlin can be there in an instant.
"Thank you."
He's almost breathless with gratitude. Merlin's eyes soften, entire expression softens with the relief that washes over it. He looks like he might cry, actually. But if word ever got back to Arthur, he'd never hear the end of it.
"I will not tell a soul."

"You're welcome. If the situation arises that you need to tell someone, I trust your judgment."
He nodded back toward the door. "Let's head back. We've got our work cut out for us."
