[shirley is hardly surprised the natives are so ignorant and frightened, unable to control themselves. in a way, she understands it, but mostly, she disapproves. she finds it ridiculous, too, but so shirley has learned, anatole is not accustomed to varying races of people. particularly those that appear different.

she approaches dende and offers her hand.]

Come, young one.

[Dende looked up in awe for a moment, it was the lady from the box! Dende nodded meekly and took her hand pulling himself up. He lets go for a moment to dust off his robes before reaching up to take the woman's hand again. He held it tightly while wiping his eyes with his free hand]

I-I don't like Ant-ta-tole a-anymore....

[she waits until he has taken her hand again, and then, she begins walking, leading him away from densely crowded areas.]

The people here are easily frightened, I'm afraid.

[Frightened? Of him? Dende knew a lot about things to be frightened of, he he was no where on the list!]

B-but I was p-polite! A-and I'm not very big! W-why w-would they b-be afraid of me?

[does not...understand how this slips past him. but he is a child.]

B-but that's not a-a g-good reason! I-I'm n-not bad! I-I didn't hurt anybody!

[Dende wipes his eyes and tries to put on his best mad face... however, since he's...well... HIM, his angry face isn't exactly the most convincing thing in the world. The sniveling and tears don't help his image much either]

Th-that's not fair!

[...congrats, dende. she manages to think this is adorable, which is something of a feat with shirley. (she is old. and very very numb to many things.)]

It isn't, is it? But life is hardly fair, young one.

[Dende looks down sadly]

[meanwhile, they are...walking down some street! it doesn't exactly matter where in the city they are, but shirley is leading him to get ice cream. because that's what makes small children happy, right? she can lead him home again later.]

He came to our planet looking for the Dragon Balls... I...

[His eyes well up again, but he tried to be brave. He couldn't cry yet. Not until everything got all fixed! Not until he was back home again!]

I'm the last one left... everything was so peaceful before!

[not a...clue as to what he is talking about! but she is curious. being a warrior that wields a dragon's magic, the dragon balls are highly relevant to her interests.]

What are these Dragon Balls?

They're a sacred item Namekians can make. If you gather all seven you can summon the Eternal Dragon and he will grant you wishes!

[Dende held onto her hand a little tighter]

Freiza wanted to wish for immortality... but the Guru died before he could.... and if the Namekian who maintains the Dragon Balls dies... then so does the Dragon....

More can be made, then?

[down another street, they go. there aren't as many people in this area; and if they are frightened of the small alien, shirley pays them no mind. if they do look prepared to take violence, though...well, she looks at them quite sharply, as if to say, "you will regret it."]

W-well I-I could make them if I tried... but they wouldn't be very strong because I'm so little...

[Dende keeps his grip tight on her hand. He's not as scared now that there's an adult looking after him!]

[she won't let anything happen to dende, either!]

[Dende looks down sadly and nods]

I'm the last one... well... there's one more, but I don't know him... he was raised on Earth... so he's Namekian... but at the same time, he's not.

[He looks back up]

He wouldn't be able to make Dragon Balls anyway since he's from the Warrior Clan. Only the Dragon Clan can make Dragon Balls.
