It doesn't take Allen that long to make his way to the apartment. An eager pace, the kind that's relieved and a little light in step with a smile on his face, but... a little worried, too.
Raikou's name. That shift in Gau's expression. (Strick...en?) Of course, it... When he'd arrive, Gau had been there introducing him right away to Raikou and Yoite, right? So natural to picture all of them together; always together, always talking about the others and Gau welcoming him into that... whatever it was... without so much as a blink or a question.
Just grabbing his hand and dragging him (dazed and confused) off after the pink-haired samurai who'd end up later killing him.
No, Gau, Allen's eagerness at seeing someone he knows (... the longest? a year now? really?)--likes, is his friend--from Kannagara is genuine, but it's also... tempered. Feeling a little like a heel still.
Gau, could it really be just you? ... But for now, right? If it was just him... if it was then Link, now Gau...
Goodbye is never really goodbye, anyway. If he's learned anything. ... But there is also that expression Gau had.
And Allen's own he keeps from himself if he thinks about it.
"Gau?" A light knock on the door left ajar, just peering around the corner to make sure he's got the right room. A smile, light and upright in posture and seemingly unburdened. Just as you might remember him, Gau--the lengthening shaggy hair he's started to tie back, maybe a little older from the Scorching. Ever-there, ever-curious Timcanpy still hovering quietly just above his head though.
Though heaven forbid, maybe looking a little more... at home in some ways? Almost formally dressed in a shirt, vest, and tie than changpao.
A vest that might... be sweater-y. Hey, it's a little chilly.
