[The clack of metal boots against stone announce her approach to the well at almost the same moment Clare pronounces her name.]

Hello, Clare. I thought that was you.

[She smiles at her old friend but something flickers through her eyes. Something twisted, something wrong. It passes like a ghost.]

I didn't know you were here, too.

I've been here for some time.

[Clare pays no attention to the strange expression, nor does she wonder how long Elena had been here without her noticing, so relieved is she to see an old friend again. Elena alive... so many of Clare's important pepole are with her now. She has so much she should be grateful for.]
