[Have some banging in the stairwell, Jyuudai. That'll be Johan, trying to get his bike up the stairs.] Stupid . . . . [And a quiet thud. Bike against wall get, yay.] There. [Short pause.] . . . Jyuudai . . . ?

He didn't say to meet him anywhere . . .

[fierycourage]

[Juudai sits up on the bed, breaking eye contact with the ceiling.] Hey. [He laughs nervously.] ...Sorry about not telling you where to meet.

[Johan pokes his head around the sheet.] . . . hi.

I was kind of wondering if you were still here.

[fierycourage]

Yeah. I've been here for a while. [He looks back up at the ceiling for a moment.]

Anyway, about... you know.

[thejewelergem]

. . . . yeah. [He fidgets. And looks ready to tell Jyuudai to just forget about it again, except that doesn't really get him anywhere when he tries it.]

Ru-bii? Rubii . . .

[fierycourage]

[He smiles a little, hoping that it might help calm Johan's nerves.] So, over the past few days I've realized a few things. One being that I'm really bad at this kind of stuff.

[He laughs a little.] The other being that I don't think about things like this very often. [He looks at Johan.] I'm pretty sure you know this already, though.

[Congratulations, you've coaxed out at least a little smile, Jyuudai.]

Rubi rubi.

Yeah. Just a little. [He looks off to one side, embarrassed.] It's kind of nice actually . . . . or was . . . . is . . . [Finally totally giving up and waving a hand around.] You know. After your time, that I've already lived through. This whole different places in time thing is a pain in the butt. There wasn't a whole lot of worrying about what things "meant" or so many week anniversaries or whatever, we just . . . kind of went with it.

[fierycourage]

[He smiles again.] Really?

[He looks off to the side now.] Well... I have been thinking about it. A lot.

[thejewelergem]

Yeah. [And getting serious again.]

. . . you said you were going to. [DODGING THE QUESTION FOREVER. Normally he'd ask, but this week has been hell and he's worried about Anderson and everybody else and yeah, just seems like a good time to not ask.]

[fierycourage]

Yeah. I kept my word. [He's silent now. What is he supposed to say? He really has no idea.] So...

[Shuffle. Looking in odd directions. Being embarrassed. Ahem. Yes.]

Rubirubi? Rubiiiiiii, rubirubirubi . . . . rubii.

[Sigh. Shuffle. Sort of trying to make himself look smaller and totally failing.] . . . so . . . . what? [Don't expect him to ask you any more directly than that, Jyuudai.]

[fierycourage]

[He completely fumbles around for words.] Well, I... uh...

[He's just. Going to look at you all puppyeyesish. Except most puppies have brown eyes, not green.]

. . . . . I'm. Kind of hungry. Do you, er . . . I mean . . . we could talk at the table . . . ? [Because that is somehow so much better than Jyuudai lying on the bed while Johan peeks around the curtain like some weird Peeping Tom.]

Sure. [He jumps up from the bed and walks over to the table, sitting down at it.] What are you hungry for?

I was just . . . going to heat up some soup. Unless you want something different.

Nope. Soup is fine with me!

[He really needs to get on with this now.] So, I've been thinking, and I want you to know some things.
