Sasori sensed Deidara come in, via faint threads of chakra attached to the apartment's windows and doors, like a spider sensing the vibrations of an insect caught by its web's strands. Would that his partner would be as easily ensnared, rather than having a habit of slipping away from him.

He turned to face his partner, taking a deep breath, and then taking in Deidara's disheveled hair, filthy clothes, and the streaks of black on his skin; for a moment, he was reminded of the headstrong brat that once was, who was heedless about getting dirty when dredging up silt for his clay. The boy he'd soothe by brushing his hair when the stress of life as a missing-nin had taken its toll...even if Deidara had always been too proud to show outright weakness. Wordless comfort for wordless discontent.

"...You're a mess. Just what have you been doing?"

But that was a long time ago, and Sasori had long since come to see Deidara as a man, as an equal, as the adult that he'd become. Protege, friend, partner, rival...and more. Someone who could soothe Sasori and provide him with comfort in turn, embracing him under the cover of night. That too, was something to be conducted in silence.

The rift between them now was something that couldn't be solved through their usual silent approach, however. And so he deliberately stepped forward to block the path to the bathroom.

"I expect that you're prepared to explain yourself now. I won't allow you to avoid me any further." Calmer than on the network, but his firm tone made it clear he wasn't going to drop this subject.
