(
A day in the life. )
[Next to her, there are two small plastic figurines of birds - one chicken, one toucan. Her cat is asleep on the bed. Her uniform hangs from a rack in the corner - her sword is leaning against a wall.]
[The room contains a plush area rug.]
[Say hello?]
Reply
[Truth be told, Lenalee needs her a little too.]
[She pauses outside of her door, shifting the brown paper bag from one arm to the other before knocking gently.]
Priscilla? It's Lenalee.
Reply
[But she still yelps a little at the knock, despite its softness.]
Oh!
[Lenalee. She recognizes the voice. Priscilla presses her lips together a little, disquieted by the sudden reminder of Arthur, but she pushes it aside.]
Lenalee? Come in.
Reply
I brought some noodles. They smell good, don't they?
[She places the bag down on the table before turning to face Priscilla again.]
I hope you're not too busy...
Reply
[That probably didn't help much. She stares at the papers for a long moment, hand closing and unclosing slowly.]
You look sad.
Reply
[Lenalee's smile fades at that. The last thing she wanted to do was come to Priscilla looking sad. There was enough of that lately. She lowers her eyes, a faint smile returning.]
I suppose I am, a little. But...I'm sure we'll see Arthur again.
[Believe in her friends. It's a lesson she learned once. One that she hasn't forgotten.]
I wish I'd known. I could've picked some up.
[Lenalee steps closer.]
I don't use a lot of it myself. But different people have different tastes. Especially when we're all mostly from different...
[She trails off. She just can't talk about butter anymore. Not when what she really wanted to do just hug her. Lenalee moves forward, slipping her arms around Priscilla, chair and all.]
Reply
[Well. She tries not to think about it. And she's about to say that she doesn't really use a lot of butter either, because she mostly eats strawberries... which is probably weird.]
[But she doesn't say it, in the end, because Lenalee hugs her. ...and her chair.]
[For a moment there, Priscilla just... sits there, and blinks.]
[And then she returns the hug a little bit. Cautiously.]
...Lenalee. Are you...
[Of course she's not okay.]
...no, I guess not.
Neither am I.
Reply
[It feels good to hug someone though. She hopes that Priscilla takes something from it as well. Comfort. Strength. Reassurance.]
[She sinks down to the floor beside Priscilla's chair, still holding her hand.]
I wish you were. I wish you hadn't had to go through all that.
Reply
[What? Okay? Not really. She lets her voice trail off a little, and closes her eyes, stroking Lenalee's hair for a few seconds, silently.]
Well. You're here!
Reply
[She sprints up Priscilla's room. Strange, she knows right where it is but has never visited it. Well, a first time for everything.]
[She stops short at the door. A deep, calming breath and she knocks.]
Morning, Priscilla.
Reply
Utena? Come... um. Here.
[She pulls the door open with a little smile - very little, but not unwelcoming.]
Come in?
Reply
[She steps in and gives a brief look around. It's a nice place, not much decoration but cozy in a way.]
[A beat. Utena isn't sure what to say, she hadn't actually planned out that far. Why didn't she bring something for Priscilla? Flowers, food, anything. Something to make a smooth transition or to give another purpose to her visit.]
[But she didn't, so best to be straight out. The smile she had on before softens.]
I wanted to see how you were doing.
Reply
...I thought that might be it. Everyone's so kind. I don't really know what to say.
Reply
You don't need to say anything. I - we're just glad to see you're doing better.
[Maybe it's a little presumptuous to speak for everyone else but she believes that is the general sentiment.]
[She wanders over to where the cat has stationed itself and starts petting it. It's good to have something to do with her hands.]
Such a nice cat...
[She does and doesn't want to know what happened out there. Priscilla had explained a little about what she was - er, is - but whatever she'd turned into is a whole new level.]
[She chews on her bottom lip, deciding if she really will ask.]
I know you probably don't want to talk about what happened out there. But just, Riful and, you - what is she?
[A roundabout way of getting to what she wants to know, it will work though.]
Reply
[She's been expecting it, actually. A little. And it's a little surprising that it hasn't come up before now. Maybe if everyone wasn't so busy tiptoeing around her.]
[So.]
They're called Awakened Beings. Or... Voracious Eaters, sometimes.
[And, since this is probably going more in the direction everyone wants to talk about...]
I almost became one. If that's what you're wondering.
Reply
You almost became one?! So, you -
[She furrows her brow in concentration.]
Wait. You told me this before- Half human and half...
So, what Riful is, you have part of that in you?
