Does anyone else hear a bunch of crows cawing? Oh, right. That's just the voices of newcomers. This is just my first time hearing so many at one time, I guess I just got confused.

[...She just doesn't sound very confused.]Really, I'm surprised Priscilla hasn't started up some kind of welcome committee for situations just like this. But I'm sure ( Read more... )

It's not too bad to be compared to one of the smarter birds.

A songbird might sound more pleasant, but it's generally empty-headed.

Then I guess the apology wasn't necessary after all. And here he went and got all huffy about it.

So you're the brains over beauty type, huh?

Is he fond of crows? If they're being compared to newcomers, it's not favourable; we all arrive ignorant despite ourselves.

... I haven't really thought about it, but I guess I must be.

-- Hi there, by the way. I hope I'm not intruding too much; I assumed that anything public was fine to eavesdrop on.

He uses it as some sort of stage name. I'm really not sure of his reasons. Sis probably knows, but I haven't found myself caring enough to ask.

Don't worry about being too polite with me. I'm not exactly the delicate type. But since we're on the subject of manners anyway, do you have an actual name that I can call you? Or would you prefer to pick a different bird?

Glad to hear it; I like indelicacy.

It's tempting, but I don't think a bird would suit me very well; I like cats too much. 'Kubota' will have to do.

Your name is Helen, right?

Any tips on how to litter train one?

That's me. So what's your thoughts on this place so far? Run into anyone that you know?

Litter train?

Well, the only one I've taken care of was already litter-trained, but if I'd had to teach him that the same way I taught him other things...

I guess I'd say that once you have their trust, they're pretty understanding of what you need from them.

I wasn't aware that you could even teach cats other things. They're so independent and all.

Oh well. If anyone can gain the thing's trust, it's Priscilla.

Cats aren't unteachable, but they're contrary. Maybe it's safe to say "they learn what they want to learn"?

Are you sure? Earning its trust might call on you to be delicate, after all.

Real troublemakers, huh. I think I might start liking them too.

I'm only in charge of feeding it. I think I can handle that much.

Aa-. Do you have an affinity with troublemakers?

Lucky job. Cats bond best with the person who feeds them -- they take it as proof that you care about them.

I've been accused of causing a little from time to time. You know, birds of a feather?

... No. Nobody I know yet.

It's still surreal to be here, but I'm getting to grips with it. The Forge is pretty handy for that.

I'm betting making contacts is an important part of being here, too.
