[ Someone's Forge turns on. Though, it would appear that it is not quite a someone who is working it. Rather, it is a goshawk that seems to have let its way into someone's living area via an open window. That someone remains absent from the feed for some time, until finally he reveals himself, carrying what appears to be a glass of water, and ( Read more... )

[--Well, guess who Stannis is getting amused laughter from.] So now the Door is bringing hawks as well as men? Perhaps the Starks should ask for their wolves.

[ And that laughter is only met with a glare. ]

It would seem this "Door" brings many things, brother. [ most of them rather useless. ] And the last I saw it, most of the Starks seem to have their wolves as well.

And yet nothing for me. Pity. [He arches a brow.] Oh, do they? I did not know. Perhaps Joff would like to fight one again. [And now he's snickering again.]

[ He tries to recall if Renly had any pets in his youth. And if they were forced to eat any of them when they were under siege. ]

The boy tried to fight one of the creatures?

[ And he's... actually wanting to hear a story. ]

[They may have been, since Renly is not inclined to talk about them.]

Or so I heard, yes. He was soundly beaten by the younger Stark girl and her wolf, if I recall.

[ There might have been the slightest beginnings of a smile, but it was soon quickly extinguished. ]

...Perhaps I was wrong to place the blame for all of those children solely on the Kingslayer's shoulders. It would seem to me that Joffrey at least may have very well been fathered by a blond lackwit that the Lannister woman mistook for her twin brother.

[ There was no hint of sarcasm. ]

[--Congratulations, Stannis, you just made your little brother laugh. And not at you, either.]

Stannis, was that a jest?

It seems to me to be the best explanation as to how a boy of his age and build could be bested by a girl the same age as mine own daughter.

[ Though the direwolf may have helped more than he gave the beast credit for.

And while he might not say it, he imagines that Renly knows the answer to his question. ]

Or do you have a better explanation, little brother?

Oh, I don't know. Perhaps the Stark girl is more fierce than most give her credit for.

I prefer mine own explanation.

[Another snort.] So do I.

[ And just like that, he's back to frowning. Back to business, little brother. ]

Have you had the misfortune of seeing the boy here yet?

[ More importantly, has Robert? ]

I saw him when he arrived.

As did I. [ And he's silent for a while. ]

In Westeros, he was also dead.

They say he was poisoned at his wedding feast by his uncle, the Imp. [ As to whom he was marrying... if Renly wanted to know, he needed only ask. ]
