[ The Forge comes to life when a bird lands on it. A blue bird, even. She picks at it before she is joined by another and then two more. They fly away to reveal a sleeping girl. She has skin as fair as snow, dark black curls and ruby lips. In fact she may well be the fairest maid you have ever laid your eyes upon.
But her sleep is anything but peaceful, she looks haunted and scared. She'll jolt up, tears in her eyes, and look around, hysteric. When she will, you will notice she looks as if she just gave birth, there is blood on her white robes and she still very much looks pregnant. There is blood on her hands, too, but it's not hers. ]
No - no -
[ She rises up, clutching her stomach, obviously, she is in pain ]
No! No - where are you?
[ And now is screaming, snapping against someone who obviously isn't in the room. ]
Come back here! Show yourself! Is this your curse? Come back here!
[ But then her voice cracks ]
Bring him back to me --- bring him back to me. James - no - no! James - Emma - my baby - my baby -
[ She falls to the floor, weeping. The blue birds gather around her but she looks like a woman who will have no comfort, none at all. ]
