Um, is this thing on?

[The normal sounds that one associates with new arrivals can be heard on the network. The video flickers on, and for a while there's a flash of dazzling rainbow light. It fades as the image of a teenage girl appears on the screen. A younger girl can be seen in the background, but she wanders in and out of the frame throughout ( Read more... )

It certainly sounds like it! Don't think I've run into anyone matching those descriptions, although I reckon they'd be hard to miss. There's every possibility they aren't actually here.

Where is here, anyway? My first thought was 1907, but I ditched that theory on account of all the Scorched weirdness.

Definitely not 1907, at least not any 1907 on Earth -- the technology is far too advanced, for one, and I'd certainly remember any mentions of magical mist. As far as I know, this would be Anatole, but as for an exact location with proper coordinates and things, I'm afraid I can't help you there.

Magical mist, what?

Ah, right. There's this mist, you see, with seemingly supernatural qualities.

So does it turn you into a superhero or something?

Well, seems to for some people. It has different effects on different people, it looks like.

What else does it do?

Seems it causes nightmares, brings things in from other universes, and for some, causes the acquisition of new abilities -- super powers, if you like.

Dangerous stuff, though, in high concentrations. It's not so bad in the city.

And by bringing things in from other universes, you mean people too, right?

Appears so! Nothing is one-hundred-percent proven just yet, but that's the general consensus. Personal theory is that the natural properties of the mist at high concentrations, focused by the archway, create the one-way door which most people travel through to arrive here.

We get that a lot.

It sounds like you would, yeah. I'm afraid I haven't met anyone quite like that since I've arrived, though.

It's all right. Thanks for taking the time to tell us anyway.
