[there is one minute of silence for him to find the forge and figure out what the hell she's replying to.]

[another minutes while he accepts the reality that there's anything to reply to.]

[one more as he takes the comment and the reality and puts them both into context.]

It's just an observation! Not that I have anything against snowglobes or trees. After all, I did give Isley a snowglobe for that winter holiday that's coming up again soon - speaking of which, do you want anything in particular? Maybe a new vest since you like them so much!

[oh my god what are you woman]

I don't want anything.

I could get you an apple, but I don't think you'd appreciate it, and I'm not sure why people say to give teachers apples anyway.

[And so she leaves it be.]

[Even if she doesn't leave him be.]

Those weren't out of charity. I don't need gifts.

No one needs gifts. But some people like to give them.

Why?

To show appreciation.

To show that I care.

Is it really that mysterious?

It isn't necessary. I'm doing no more than I have to.

You didn't have to teach me. I would have understood, if you didnt' want to.

You needed my help more than I didn't want to give it to you.

You see! I have to thank you for that!
