[ The forge comes on as it's dropped to the ground, bouncing a few times before it finally settles. Anyone familiar with the flooded section of the ruins should be able to tell where Kahlan is, even though the forge is currently upside down. A brown boot steps into view for a moment and then turns as Kahlan looks around. ]
Cara?! [ There's a

[CARA?]
[Someone...who knows he--hold on, it could be a different Cara. Not likely, but...it could be. Better find out.]
...Hey! Hey, that Forge. Uh, the device! Pick it up, you're gonna need that, trust me!
[Oh, way to be formal, Kunsel.]

[He's not usually this excited, honest.]
[And for what it's worth, he's trying to stop yammering, but it's hard.]
The thing you're holding, it's called a Forge. It's...like a two-way mirror you can talk through. Technology forged, not magic, so don't be afraid of it, it won't hurt you...unless, I don't know. You drop it on your foot or something. Which I wouldn't recommend doing, because ow.
Oh! I'm Kunsel by the way! And...I think I might know Cara. Or, I knew her...unless she returned with you? If it's even the same Cara I'm thinking about.

It's pretty obvious that she has questions about the Forge, judging solely on the way her eyebrows pull together, but then he mentions Cara and it looks like everything but that is forgotten. ] She stands about as tall as I do, has light colored hair, wears red leathers?

She fights with...what are they called?! Agiel! That's it! She hit me with one once, and oh boy did I regret asking for that.
[And he did ask for it. But he seems to be smiling fondly now at the memory, even if he'd blacked out after the contact back then.]

You... asked to feel the power of a Mord-Sith's Agiel?

[Oh man, what a blast from the past...but wait. He forgot to ask Kahlan something.]
How do you know Cara anyway?

We're traveling with the Seeker. Do you know where she is?

[Oh. Right. She obviously doesn't know what's going on here.]
[Kunsel's smile momentarily dulls and his excitement simmers down.]
I'm not from the Midlands. I'm from Midgar. Which I know you've never heard of...because this place we're in is far, far away from any place...any of us have ever been to before. We come here through the Door. Sometimes when we wake we remember seeing it. It's in the center of town if you want to take a glimpse. Unfortunately it doesn't work the same way crossing back through, so most of us are stuck here.
Somehow some people manage to leave, but I don't know of a one that's done it intentionally.
[Pause.]
Anyway, that's why I didn't know what an Agiel was at first. It's like how I'm sure you have no idea what materia is. Which...I can show you another time.
Right now you should probably get out of the ruins. And whatever you do, don't go into the water. There are all sorts of undead and monstrous things.

She glances over towards the water she had been standing near, brow furrowed, and then looks back towards the Forge. It's a good thing she didn't drink from it, then. ]
If you wouldn't mind. [ At the very least, she could find some place to sit and question him. ] My name's Kahlan, by the way. I'm not sure if I mentioned that.

Best stay where you are then, Kahlan. And if you could sweep the Forge around so I can see the landmarks, I'll be able to find you more easily.
[He's already walking, if you can't tell by the way his Forge is bobbing slightly now.]
And...I'm sorry for all the shouting. Cara's been gone from here for a long time. No one really talks of her, so it was nice to hear the name again. I wouldn't call her a friend exactly, or maybe I would, but I don't know if I was a friend to her...but my point is, I guess I miss her a little. She had a very reassuring presence. And if it wasn't for her, I might not have gotten as close to another friend of mine, so...yeah. Maybe I owed her a little.
[He tilts his head, noticing the way she's studying him. He doesn't have her Confessor powers, but he's good at reading people.] ( ... )

I doubt Cara and friend belong in the same sentence. Mord-Siths aren't exactly known for their ability to form bonds to other people. [ She turns the Forge back around; any and all traces of the panic she feels are gone from her face. She resists the urge to tell him to never admit - or to feel - like he owes a Mord-Sith. ]
How long ago was Cara here and how had I not noticed her absence? We were just standing on the same stage together and had been traveling together for many moons.

I know Cara was rough around the edges, but during the time she was here she did many good things. [This is an exaggeration, however, Kunsel feels that the way Cara looked out for Cloud, protected him, helped search for him when he was kidnapped, merit praise on her behalf. She could have refused to do all of those things, or to accompany him hunting, or to train with him, but she did not. She was stubborn about it to the last - it was like trying to drive a nail into steel with your fist - a bloody and virtually useless task, but eventually...something began to give. Her defenses, maybe. Or his belief in the front she put up. Something.]
She was here...a long time ago. [There is a pause as he checks. Because he checks everything for accurate information.] Last seen March 13th ( ... )

[ She nods. ] She's been traveling with us for a while now. You knew her when she was here, too?

[Wait. She's doing it again isn't she?]
...you probably don't know. It's just an expression. I can pretty much cover it with trustworthy, so this is me rewinding the conversation.
[And her smile fades a little, as she blinks and tries to recall what's a muddled mess in her mind. What isn't muddled is a little ...gappy.]
She saved my life. I remember that part, but...
[The self-effacing smile returns, but not full force.] She kind of threatened it, too, but I don't think she was serious about that.
