I cannot allow it.

[ Because he has to try and convince you not to do something stupid. Because that woman is his responsibility. ]

I am eager to entertain alternatives. Any and all, barring only the one I currently perceive to be the case. That for lack of clear-cut options we are pursuing none. Observation is itself impact. Perhaps I can try to make things clearer.

If I am wrong, if things are being done behind the scenes, the surest way to stop me is to inform me of such and I will with all my being help. It's true my personal investment is potentially problematic but I believe that I am more useful in this cause than not-enough so that standing aside seems unacceptable.

[he must have been subliminally picking up on something afoot, but unloading it at Byakuya is misdirected.]

This is the responsibility of the Police. If you are to go, allow me to send someone. Myself, if need be.

[ He just can't let you go in alone. This is his fault for not binding the witch himself. ]

I'm seeing from other responses how misleading my fervor was. My current intent is only reconnaissance. If you think it wisest to accompany me you alone would be welcome… but perhaps I should attempt to narrow the location to a district and report back before closer-proximity work is attempted?

Whatever the case, she has succeeded in making us all work so hard to restrain our own worst instincts, and attempt to protect one another from giving into their own, we have been diverted from working on the problem together and rationally. Her brand of terrorism makes it hard to trust ourselves and one another. Let's change that.

... perhaps.

[ Go away, voice of reason. He pauses. It's not hesitation, but consideration. It's true. Of them, Lupin knows Bellatrix best and understands her magic better than any of them. He'd have no problem with this method anny other time. ]

I will trust you to relay to me your next move. No unnecessary risks.

I will.

[oh, and how he'll think with great irony of this conversation when he's staring at the wall, paralyzed by a body-bind hex in the Clinic in about fifteen minutes]
