Forth Sight - Voice

[a soft voice, more to himself, musing it over as if he’s watching it.]

The sun… it’s nice to see again.

[there is a coughing sound, stifled by a hand. A match is struck and the sound of someone taking a moment to smoke is heard. Then a clearer voice speaks.]

It… feels like things are coming back to normal again, whatever normal is.

[Ugh. Smoking is a disgusting habit. Like his damn father. He bites back saying something really rude, because he doesn't know this person.]

People need to stop leaving the Forge on.

[Trust me, he does -not- want to be smoking anyhow. The effects of the trip here didn't help him any at all.]

I agree with this statement. I didn't realize it had come on though, sadly.

Nothing's gone back to normal yet. The sun might be out, but someone is still trying to kill all of us. Don't relax just yet.

Then it's a good thing I don't consider myself relaxed... sir? Forgive me, I don't believe I've spoken with you before.

[Great. Is everyone here Japanese? He knows he's not going to remember that, with his skill in foregin languages.]

...got a nickname?

[A bit of a pause here, as he's a bit confused. Then softly...]

Ano-- ah... not really? Most people just call me Watanuki. [To be helpful he stressed each point of his name, wa-ta-nu-ki]

[A pause as he strings the syllables together a couple of times under his breath.]

...Watanuki. Got it.

[The pronunciation is bad, but not entirely incorrect.]

So... I take it you've been trying to look into that poor girl's death as well?

Trying. Haven't found anything.

...we don't even know if she was one of us. I'm thinking so though, since the natives seem relatively unconcerned.

The natives always seem rather unconcerned though. They carry their dead with appearance that it happened because it was fated to.

[He held back comments on Hitsuzen, only so he didn't have to explain it.]

Do they? I don't really talk to them.

And they obviously want to stay alive enough to hire bodyguards in Dismas.

It still feels like they ought to be more worried than they are.

You don't have to talk to them to see them carry their dead in from a hunting trip. Wanting to stay alive and mourning those that have already been lost are different though. Prevention here seems to be the key, where once something or someone is lost it doesn't matter anymore. You do what you have to an carry on. Like with the fires a while back. They lost homes, shops, everything. Not a one of them came out to put out the fires, and those of us who helped? Well... they didn't care. The next morning they started to rebuild with out a word of thanks. I... think that's just how this place is. What's happened has happened, so there is no reason for them to worry about it. Unlike us who they called Scorched... who worry about the past, present and future, it seems.

[Sighs, taking a breath, coughing a bit, damn clear lungs, and took another pull of smoke, ah, better]I'm just... trying to point out that, where they might not show worry at those things past, they still value their lives enough to follow prevention. The death of a girl ( ... )
