[Those who know Sebastian might be surprised to catch a glimpse of him now. He's definitely not looking like his usual impeccable self. His clothes are wrinkled and his collar is (gasp!) open, tie missing completely. He might even be paler than usual (it's difficult to tell, given that anemic Victorian complexion). He also appears to be propped up

[And she really, honestly means that. Fancy that.]
What is the evidence you have?

[Perhaps his words sound self-berating, but his tone doesn't. He speaks them coolly, like simple facts.]
But your words are kind, Miss Hawkeye, so thank you for them. I'll be returning to my post as soon as I am able, although I may have to request I bring the young master with me. If we are still being preyed on, it would probably be safer for him to be there.
[As for the evidence...]
Dr. Reid has told me others have reported our attackers are cannibalising captives. I collected some samples that should confirm this. He said he will be by to collect them shortly.

Cannibals. Well, that's fun. Hopefully bullets work on these ones.
Where has she been that she missed this information? Oh yeah, busy trying to wrangle the Patrol into something remotely resembling working order.]
What sort of samples are they?

[Surely he'll be let out by then. He hopes.]
Part of a hand bone, I believe. Or perhaps the lower arm. There is definite sign of gnawing.
[Yum.]

Gnawing done by human teeth?
[That's just... ew.]
Did you see any of the other captives while you were there? Or your captors, can you tell me anything about them?

I've already missed more than enough time. I assure you I will be fine.
And yes. Or at least, teeth that resemble human. From the little I overheard from their numbers, they are quite powerful and immune to the effects of the Mist. I am not certain I can deem them human based on that description.
They - were also expressing some aggressive sentiment toward Anatolians, but of course I think that could be discerned by their recent actions.

[SHE WILL NEVER TELL.
And of course they're not human. Things can never be easy, she always has to face down these super humans.]
You overheard them talking? Was that all you heard?

[Might as well test the theory. GO ON AND CORRECT HIM, RIZA.]
There was some other talk, but out of context I fear it doesn't make much sense. There was... mention of... wanting to wipe "them" from the earth. I can only assume that means us, although how serious the speaker was I can't be certain. Bravado is rampant in one's own camp, I imagine.
[Still. It's not exactly comforting.]

Most likely. But even so, even that little bit should not be taken lightly, especially considering this rather large scale abduction campaign which they had apparently laid very careful plans for ahead of time.

[Pause.]
Ah, perhaps now is not the time to mention it, but I hadn't had a chance to say this in the past. I would like to thank you for your help with the young master last month. I was at a loss as to how to handle the situation, and you aided immensely.

It was no problem. Really, it was a kindness of you to give me something to do, even if it was only to talk to another child.

It was a peculiar situation overall, but you were just as calm and capable as a child. [There's a hint of a smirk that even be heard in his voice.] I must admit I was impressed.

It is quite difficult for you to accept a compliment, isn't it?
[Just something he's noticed.]

I.
Yes, I suppose it is.
[Which is the most honest, straightforward answer anyone who's ever asked that question has gotten. She breathes and it seems as if she might say something else, but ultimately she doesn't.]

Why is that, when you are so deserving of praise?
[Come on, little Riza. Open up to the nice butler.]
